Why stay away from fish based?
@Marje and Gracie can answer better than I can. Weruva uses tuna juice in some of its food but still lower in phos. It gets to a point where I had to choose my battle. It got to a point I was trying anything to keep him eating.

Weruva has a great site, gives all nutritional values and ingredients.

Fowl Ball was a favorite for a very long time early on - until a really bad panc flare and then he wouldn't touch it. :banghead:

When they list it as % what is the range to look for?

Sorry about Bella’s diagnosis and your knee. Sounds like your getting lots of good advice for managing Bella’s CKD. I hope the docs/insurance will get something done about your knee soon. Prayers for both of you!

A few things.
So sorry about Bella's diagnosis but people here have lots of experience with it so it doesn't have to a tragedy.
I know @JoyBee&Ravan has gone through CKD and has done a lot of research on it. I'm sure she'd be happy to help.
Have you had an MRI before? I've had four (five? all those concussions add up), just super-happy-fun time. Imagine having a hangover inside a drum set being banged on by a four year old. When they found out I was a steel worker 100 years ago I had to have my eyes x-rayed before each MRI. You don't want some microscopic steel sliver rocketing from your brain down and out your knee. Even certain tattoos can cause problems but that might be an urban myth.
Good luck with everything, give Bella a little ear pull for me.

You will find lots of help here from other folks who are dealing with CKD. Tanya's site is the bible (Wendy cited it above). Bella will be OK. Try not to stress!

Sorry about your knee. Sending you lots of vines that it will improve over time. I've had various knee injuries over the years and they always got better by themselves. At my advanced age I hike, climb, x-c ski, bicycle, etc. Just keep moving and think positively!

Me to Sonia, it's just devastating to me, one day at a time I suppose
Thank u
I know, I felt devastated also. It's hard enough trying to get high protein, low carb that they'll eat, now it's low phos as well. The diet for a diabetic and CKD are opposites. I tried some of the low phos Weruva foods and Leo has been increasingly refusing to eat them. I've been adding Purebytes to his Weruva Quick 'n Quirky chicken because he stopped liking it. Lately, all he wants to eat is the tuna one which is not a good diet long term. Allot of people use phos binders, I know @JoyBee&Ravan does. I just received Leo's lab results from last week and I'm going to enter them in the SS. Also going to contact our vet about phos binders, I'm not sure if you need a prescription in Canada or not. We can do this!!! :bighug:
