So I can get Tuffy's teeth cleaned. However, I know he's going to need an extraction or 2. What should I expect in price and how it will affect his diabetics?

How do I give him insulin or do I not the day of the appointment? I thought usually it's no food or drink after 12 am. How can I give him insulin if no food?

Your vet should advise re the insulin as well as when to stop food and water. I've read here that some were told to give a half dose. The cost can vary widely depending on location so it's hard to give any feedback on that.

They also want to do a fructosamine test to get the average bg. I will ask more information when I call. Thank you.

Since you are frequently home testing BG I would not get a fructosamine done. I is relatively costly and provides no additional information. A fructosamine is good as part of initial diagnosis.

When I talked to my vet about getting Alex's teeth cleaned they said I'd do half-dose and half-food, but you should ask your vet what their protocol is. They should have one in place for diabetic cats, and if they don't that should be a warning sign that it might not be the best place to get it done, so it's good to ask them directly.

As Kris said, prices can vary pretty drastically depending on where you are, so I'd ask for an estimate. Most vets should be able to ballpark it for you. I got three estimates from different vets here for my cats and they ranged from $600-$1100 each for basic cleaning (which includes the x-rays and blood tests beforehand) plus extra for an extractions they end up having to do. This is just the price range in my area though, it could be much lower or much higher where you are. You can try googling your city name and vet dental prices and see if others have posted it about it on places like reddit so you know about how much to expect.
