Samhi's +4 Bg is 78. She is on 4 U of Lantus. Do I give food now? Posting her chart. yesterday site first day she was 210 pre shot , then @+3.5 she was 103 , then tested hour later @+4.5 she 86 . gave some crab treats. Then @+8 she was 101. Her reshot tonight was 233. just tested @+4 and she dropped to 78.
Do I give food?? high carb??
She has never dropped like this before and never had low #'s like this.
Only change is a new bottle of test strips. I use an Array meter. The meter auto matically changed the code on the strips.
Anyone up??

The take action on a human meter is 50. 78 is a perfectly safe number. If you want to give a low carb snack of her regular food that would be fine, but no need to panic.

The dark green numbers on the chart are perfectly safe levels. The light green is hypo territory.

Regular food available is a good idea but no need for high carbs.

And test again in another hour to see which way the numbers are going.

Was afraid she would drop another 20 - 30 points like yesterday. In my panic already gave see higher carb treats. this is new territory for us. New as in going this low started yesterday. She had already eaten. Even after eating yesterday and some carb treat., her #'s didn't go up that much.
While i understand these are ok Numbers, we have never had them before- Had considered going up on dose as she was not getting any lower response.
Last test was 4: 15 am est. Is 5:30 now. Test now or in an hour? She had the treats about 1/2 hour ago.

It is what it is then, do another test and see where she is going.

And don’t panic. Green is ok. I feel cautious when my girl is down in green too cos it feels soooo low compared to usual, but I have to remind myself its all good!

Maybe remove the 911 from the title?

thank you all she's up to 149; Im sure my giving her the treats ( my error panic) had it rise. and now she wants to eat again. How do I remove the 911?

Do you feed "any" dry food? Treats should be LOW carb. ( maybe a piece of REAL chicken) The only time you want to give any high carb is if Kitty has dropped into a low # the carbs should come from wet food only not dry.
You might want to read Dr Pierson's Yellow Sticky about Why not to feed dry food.
Info Dry Food - PLEASE consider more than just carbohydrate content

I read on her SS that on 1/23 you gave 1/2 dose & another 1/2 dose an hour later? You shouldn't do that. If you give a fur shot or for any other reason she didn't get the full dose you need to wait 12 hours & give the regular dose.
The shots should be every 12 hours.

Does your cat have any other medical problems? You mentioned she was limping? Does she have neuropathy? This should be noted so the people helping you will know.

On 12/09 you state: The insulin looks stringy? I'm not sure what you mean by that? Did you find out what the problem was?

Try to read as much as you can about the insulin & everything else, when you have time. The more you know the better,so you can keep your Samhi safe!

She had another green # tonight. Test as much as you can to see what the insulin & this dose is doing.

you might want to monitor closely.

Paula said she might be heading for a reduction. You need to keeping checking her bg to see how low this dose will take her. KEEP her SAFE.:):bighug:

Have you looked at the Sticky Note on Dosing Methods? You have been increasing using larger increases than we would use here. Cats respond to small changes in dose. People here use either Tight Regulation or the Srtart Low Go Slow method for dosing. If there is dry food in the picture, then SLGS must be used. SLGS would also have you reduce the dose by 0.25 units as you have seen some under 90’s.
