If he doesn’t see green tonight, which is not likely to happen, I’d suggest increasing his dose to 1.25u tomorrow morning.

What do you think?

Tonight is the first time in a while that he has gone green with the human meter. I also did not feed him tonight @+3 because I fell asleep. I wonder if that is why he went low or is it just a coincident? What do you think? Since he went green in the human meter, should I hold the dose or increase to 1.25Units?
I hope all went well with your dentals and that they are doing good.:bighug:

This is funny because I had just looked at his SSs right before I posted and there was only the PMPS! I bet he will likely be green on the AT tonight, too, as long as you give him LC unless numbers start to get a lot lower.

So I’ll reverse my advice. If he doesn’t go below 85 on the human meter, I might normally suggest a dose increase still. However, I know you like those nadirs around 80. It would be nice if he’d surf greens tonight.

If he doesn’t drop any more than mid 80s tonight and if you want to see the nadir a little lower, you can still increase. If you are happy with the 80s, then hold the dose.

I was looking at Scooter's SS and I don't see any updates since 3/8, does this mean that Scooter is OTJ?

Jill has probably not had time to update the SS. Before we usually start and OTJ trial, the dose goes down to 0.1u with kitty mostly green. Once a reduction is earned, then we do a two week trial with no insulin.

Scooter looks great but has a little ways to go yet.

Thanks for asking about the dentals. Tobey’s went great; Liv showed a left bundle branch block when the butorphanol induction was started so they reversed it and I have to take her to get an echo before they will do the dental.

Wow... your Vet seems to be on top of things. I am so happy that everyone is home with you. I am assuming that the left bundle branch block was found with the heart monitor that is set up during the dental. My 11 year old dog has an enlarged heart along with chronic valve disease. She sees a cardiologist about every 8-10 weeks and she is on a lot of medication. She has improved in different ways and then other things are affected like the kidneys from all the meds that she is taking. It is an on going battle and "we" keep fighting it! The cardiologist allows us to be in the room when she has her echo's. I am an over protective mom, and I always try and be with them during all procedures. I always ask for blood work to be done in the exam room instead of the tech taking my pets into the back rooms. I pray that "Liv" will be fine. Please keep me updated.

Your little doggie is so lucky that you are so on top of everything for her. It is always a battle to balance heart and kidneys.

Tobey is Liv’s uncle and he also has a LBBB but he has no associated structural heart problems. We have him echoed yearly and an EKG every six months just to stay on top of it and have a fantastic cardiologist. He explained to me that a LBBB is, on its own, benign. It’s equivalent to driving somewhere and having to take a detour. You still get there, you just go a different route. Liv’s is different in that Tobey’s always shows up on his EKG. Liv’s EKG did not show it until the pre anesthesia drugs were given which, the anesthesiologist thinks is indicative that those specific drugs won’t work for Liv. But, the anesthesiologist is amazing and she’s cautious so she just wants to be sure there is no structural heart issue before the dental. She will then come up with a different protocol that will minimize the LBBB. Thank you for asking!!
