Bear 3-5/PMPS 388/+3.25 151/Bear is bad & teetering on a tightrope. +5 66!/58BG

Bounces are good times to catch up on sleep. Good news on the lack of ketones.

Did you get more Cerenia to give him?

So Bear's appetite was practically nil today. He didn't eat enough to keep a bird alive. I resorted to baby food late afternoon.
30 minutes before PMPS I gave him both anti-nausea meds Zofran & Cerenia hoping he could eat before his shot.
He would barely touch his treats which he loves and with much coaxing he ate 0.4 oz his favorite flavor cat food.
I reduced his shot to 4 units having massive doubts that I could steer his BG up with any food if it went low.
40 minutes later I coaxed him to eat another 0.3 oz of cat food.
All was good up to 11:30 so I laid down for an hour and a half nap.
I went to test for +3 and there was vomit all over the place.
I am going to call his Vet first thing when they open to try to get an Emergency fit in appointment.

After +3 test I fed him very soupy wet cat food 5 minutes later he vomited all of that plus his testing treats up.
30 minutes later I fed him 1.2 oz Meat Baby food 40 calories and so far he has kept that down.
He still has diarrhea and I think he needs Sub-Q fluids for support.

Bear's tightrope is this:
With barely any sugars from his food to use up his L insulin he could go low BG.
If he goes low and continues to vomit up everything even honey like he did Saturday then his BG can't be steered with food and I won't be able to help prevent a hypo.
If he can't keep food on board then his body will use what is stored in his liver and if that is depleted then it will use what is stored in his muscles which creates ketones.
We already know that Bear has something wrong possibly pancreatitis which means he might have inflammation of the pancreas.
I am trying to find the right dose amount of L insulin needed to keep Bear in a good range without going low which means if he doesn't get enough insulin the three things that cause DKA can play out-ketones, inflammation or infection and not enough insulin.
This is my understanding of the situation. Lord I hope I make the right decisions.

One of my concerns seems to be playing out Bear has dropped to 66BG!
I am giving 17% suspected wheat allergy or not.
He needs CARBS.
Next is ice cream with honey.
4 units must have been tooooomuch!

Looks like all our experienced vets are in bed.
Barely Licked ice cream.
Resorted to 16.6% Tiki kibble and he is eating that.
Thank God I didn't feed all of it to the dog!
Testing again.

15 minutes to retest but since we are past +6 I have hope that his BG will be more stable.
Thank goodness Bear isn't nauseous, I am though.
That scared me a little too much.

We went to the ER Saturday, excessive vomiting and low event at the same time.
Blood work showed only slightly elevated cholesterol and globulin.
I gave him both nausea meds at 9:30, 30 minutes before PMPS. Zofran and Cerenia
His Vet is on vacation, got an appt for other vet in office for Friday, but am going to call and try to get a emergency fit in appt when they open today.

Kibble is slower to be absorbed but will last longer once it is absorbed.
Have you tried honey or is Bear vomiting it?
Is he still vomiting or has that stopped?
Looking at the SS you tested for ketones about 12 hours ago ...is that correct?

+7.5 69BG
Make that 3.5 Tblsps kibble.
He didn't eat all from +7 test.
That's an improvement. Did he eat at all when you tested the +7.5?
Can you get a +8 please?
Can you have a look at my posts and answer my questions thanks so I know where everything is up to..
You are doing a great job!

Can you have a look at this when you have time and see if it is correct. If you can remember can you put in what food you gave and when please? Thanks :bighug:
