Possible spontaneous remission.
You can check out fluffy chart.
Friday when we went to vets office she was at 90 on +10, so the vet and I talked and she told me she has never seen possible remission this quick, so she told me to reduce her 1 unit to half, and to skip that night.i did that.

If you check her spreadsheet you can see the info, the only thing is the last entry , on her +4 she was entering hypo at 64, so I fed some treats and the measure her +5 at 123.(laptop ran out of battery and left my charger at work, that is why I couldn’t enter)

She was started at 1 units but after vet test in office we adjusted dose, again you can see that on the chart.
When I called the vet this morning about her glucose check on 74 at +3 she told me, no more insulin for one week and we will test next Friday in vet office and see what is happening. She wants to do an off juice trial, she believes that is a possible spontaneous remission but we are being cautious.
I’m scared, not sure, what is your advice?
We are not seeing any of the old symptoms.

To get a strong remission we recommend you reduce the dose further down to 0.25 units twice a day and then lower before going off insulin.
The normal BSL for Alphatrak is 68 to 150 approx. ......your kitty was 190 this morning.
While he is doing very well I am not sure he is ready to go off the juice just yet, but he is close..
Once he does go off insulin he will have to stay on a low carb diet for life to help him stay in remission as he is still a diabetic, just diet controlled.
Once he does go off insulin he needs to stay in normal numbers for two weeks with you testing every day before we say he is in remission. You need to continue to check his BSLs periodically after that.
See what others say.

Athena, it is possible, but I would pay close attention to what Bron just posted. Idjit responded to the diet change and insulin therapy very quickly, but we did not wean him slowly off the insulin like we should have and were advised here to do. We were still trying to figure out effective treatment, searching around for the half unit syringes and trying to learn to test effectively (bumfuzzled old people!) We did not have good vet support unfortunately, and just weren't smart enough at the time to follow directions here on slowly reducing the insulin.
Idjit is still in remission, but I hold my breath every time we test, hoping that it lasts for a very long time.
If you follow the advice given here, there is a better chance of a good strong remission, which is your ultimate goal. If I could go back and do over, I would follow the instructions to the letter. Good luck and paws crossed, looking forward to an OTJ party for Fluffy, and Fluffy joining the other OTJ kitties at the Falls!

I agree with @Bron and Sheba ….Most vets don't know that we can give smaller amounts than .5

We try to keep cats on insulin as long as possible here so that the pancreas has as much time to heal as possible, so I'd go down to .25 twice a day and see how it goes first.....then, IF the numbers are still mostly normal for 7 days, go down to .1

We want a strong remission, not necessarily a fast one!

ould I need to test everyday once a day to confirm remission? And what time would be the best to do that? Thank you this is so so helpful

Thank you so much! Yes, unfortunately vets failed me when I lost my beloved 15 year old chewy, despite multiple vets, multiple test and they always saying, “oh he is normal” just keep on giving him the appetite pill, I saw him in so muCh pain that one morning we had to rush him to put him down.
I measured her this morning and she is in the 280 range so i am taking your advice guys and after food I gave her 1/4 unit or 0.25, despite I have the half unit syringes is a bit hard to eye ball the fourth of a unit but I think I did ok. :)

thank you, this is super helpful.
now I've checked her level at +7 and im a bit uneasy about the PMPS number I might get, as it seems not to be rising too much. does anyone have any sort of guidelines for ranges to shoot? when should I skip? when should I reduce dose even further? when should I give full dose (and by full dose I mean her new adjusted 0.25 (one fourth of unit.)

Athena, you might post in the Prozinc forum to get those experienced members' input on dosing. You can link this thread for background information so they know what's going on.
