Same switched from vestulin to Lantus on 2/6. Started at 3 Units then 3.5 now 4 units for the last 4 days. Last night her reshot was 405 tonight 168. I hesitated but then did give her her 4 units. I will set my alarm to test around 3+ to see how her BG is. She I be worried tonight Her Bg will drop? Should I have held the dose? She hasn't wanted to eat much to day and is having food issues with switching to FF pate. She was almost 20 lbs. and primarily a dry food eater. If I'm lucky she will eat about 1/2 can throughout the day when I bring it to her with added water. Other wise she gets a few treats after her BG. I need to find some additional food to leave out. This is not much food for her to be eating compared to her 12 years of being a big eater. She won't eat the FF unless I have it fresh so leaving that out she won't touch it. Her Bfs are all over the place. I just get worried and so unpredictable. She has become more lethargic and just wants to stay curled up in her bed. No interest in anything. Bought the Pure bite chicken that she loved initially now doesn't want that either. Thoughts??

Whenever you shoot your lowest number to date, it’s a good idea to get a +1 and a +2. Please test now if you haven’t already done so.

Are you testing her urine for ketones ?

Why the metacam?

Metecam as she has horrible arthritis. Urine and blood work at vet a couple weeks ago was fine. Just got the strips to test for ketones ,haven't done it yet at home. Will do another Bg shortly. she also vomited a hair ball at 10 am this morning. Usually she will get up briefly but has been in her bed . she just go some water and is curled on bed with me . Need a coulee minuted before I can do the Bg.

Retested and she is 292 at +2.5hours. she did have some small amount of treat as she didn't eat much of her ff pate. after her shot. Ill retest again + 5 hours.

Have you cut out the dry food altogether? If so, did you transition slowly? When was the last time she had dry? perhaps you could pop that on the remarks in the SS.

Are the treats she gets with the BG check Temptations? They are very HC and could well be contributing to raising her BG. A better treat for after BG checks would be a pure meat freeze dried treat as they won't affect BG and all cat's seem to love them, my civie has trained me to sprinkle a couple of them on top of his regular wet food:rolleyes:

Do you think you could run a curve soon? It might help fill in some of the uncertainty about the dose.

Thanks for your comments.- sorry for late response- just seeing this now. Vary her treats - try to not use temptations ( although she loves those) . Will use Party mix Naturals even those they are not really natural either. Still transitioning to all wet- most of the dry is the treats but thinking I may try to go back to the Purina Dm as treat as opposed to temptations. At least that is lower carb than the junk food. Did get the Pure bite freeze dried chicken she loved it but that was 2 weeks ago- now doesn't want to even smell it!. Wish I could get some dry ( Dr. easy) to try so she has some food I cn leave out for her. When I have some extra $$ I ll try a small bag. Finances don't always allow to just get stuff to try. I just purchased more syringe and test strips so I am tapped out for a while. Retirement is no joke!! I'm not sure I did a smooth transition to wet- .more hit or miss based on what she was willing to eat and what I can afford to get for her.
