Happy Weekend!
Scooter is doing well! He had a great run of greens until I messed up. On Weds. morning I got up and he was eating the last bit of his last night time snack. He was 108 @ AMPS and 139 @ +1. I’m giving the snack at the wrong time credit for those numbers. I have since fixed his feeder to turn 1 hour after his last snack. He got a reducie on Thurs. PM. We are now down to what seems like a tiny dose of 2.75!

I have been trying a little experiment with Scooter’s snack times. I remembered someone suggesting a later snack might bring pre shot numbers down. Scooter’s pre shots are pretty much always good but he gets a pretty good spike at + 1-2, especially in the AM. I have moved his last snack from +7 to +9 to see if it would help. It seems to be working, but it’s a little hard to tell. Scooter has been eating a good quantity but being very picky. I have been fixing his feeder and then finding he didn’t eat and fixing him something else, which he then eats. He finished his AB Weds. PM. I’m hoping he will go back to eating his snacks at the scheduled times. I think the AB may have been upsetting his tummy a little.

Prayers and vines for all kitties and beans in need!

That only works when doses are very tiny, more like 0.25 units or less and it looks like the cat is on the path to OTJ. At that point, the pancreas is sputtering and the late snack can help. With higher doses, a late snack will likely just shorten duration and give you higher preshot numbers. If he really needs a later snack, try zero carb such as poached chicken breast.

When kitty is on ABs, it's a good idea to add a probiotic to the mix to help the upset tummy.

Oh, I didn’t realize it just worked with very low doses. I’ll switch him back to his old schedule. I will also get some probiotics next time he has to have AB.
Thanks Wendy!

All in all, he is looking really good. The food timing is a real experiment for sure. As Wendy said, the +9 snack in when kitties are on .25 dose or less and heading for remission.

I reset the feeder from +9 to +7 this morning, which puts him back on the same schedule he’s been on forever. I’ve been thinking now that I may need to do away with the+7 and end his snacks with + 6. When I started the schedule his nadir was fairly late, but now he Nadirs around +5-6.
