It's only 2 hours after shot so I am worried... I thought I would be okay shooting at 204 but he dropped and dropped fast - looks like he is still dropping. he did eat a big chunk of wet food. Waiting 15 more minutes to test again - really worried because nadir is coming soon... ugh...

I realize now I should have dropped down to 3u again after two nights ago when he had a PMPS lower than 90. So today we will do that... for this evening.

Anyone out there who could ride this with me? First time getting lower numbers like this... a tad worried...

Eating another scoop of high carb food I put a tiny drizzle of honey on it.

Edited to add: He is showing no signs of being low yet.

We are in the 50s now. This means we just wait it out now and test again in 15-20 minutes right? If he is in the 50s still we can wait 30-60mins? Just making sure I understand everything I have written down / printed off.
 
Yes, next test 15-20 mins from the most recent test. If above 50, then re test in 30-40 minutes.

I’ll have an eye on you and Harley. You are doing great.

So that "don't panic" is super needed. But I know that now since we've had (are having) our first low ride.

Probably could have done without the Honey drizzle. He had two scoops of HC friskies and litterally just a little drizzle at 44, but...

Nice job catching those greens - I hope he levels off for you and doesn't decide to take another deep dive!
 
You are doing great Robin. Keep breathing. :bighug: You will have to keep monitoring, to make sure he doesn't fall back down when the honey/high carb wears off after a couple hours.

Thank you, will do. As often as I frequent the forum I figured I'd feel fine when this finally happened - as much as I did I didn't at the same time, haha.

I literally live 5 minutes from the tractor supply store and I am going to run over and grab a couple more cans of high carb. I realized that was my last can and though we only took 2 small scoops out I didn't put it away and while I was dealing with him my other cat ate the rest of the can :banghead: haha

So when tonight comes and PMPS looks good it will be safe to shoot 3u (reduced by .25)? There isn't any reason to hold the dose tonight because of what happened?

You did just fine for your first "low ride" guiding a cycle with food can be pretty nuanced. Make notes regarding what numbers you fed, the timing, carbs and amounts. It will be useful the next time around.

Here is another time honored maxim to keep in mind-

"Better a day too high than an hour too low"
