And...we are getting ANOTHER half grown kitten

Will soon be taking home 6 month old Mittens, to join 8 month old Maggie, and 12 year olds Lamborghini and Ferrari. We are insane.
Daughter's best friend has had lots of cats and kittens, dozens as they took in a very young litter years ago, but never get the females spayed (have finally, after years, started neutering the males, I guess because they're cheaper?).
Daughter fell in love with one of last summer's kittens. Daughter sees this kitty a lot. Daughter tried to get us to take it home. Daughter graduates high school in June, and leaves for far away college in August. No, no cat, doesn't make sense. Daughter stopped asking.
Daughter comes home saying friend's parents have decided to get rid of most of the cats (20? 30? 500? no one knows. 5 or more years of endless kittens and cats.) They told her, if she pays to get Mittens spayed, they will keep the cat for her until she can take it herself (Um...do they realize that could be 4 or 5 years?) We said we'd discuss the possibility.
Then we thought about what it would do to our daughter's heart if she got told that they had given "her" kitten away to a stranger. I cannot crush my child's heart.
So we are going to get Mittens tested, vaccinated, spayed, and as long as she doesn't have FelV or FIV or anything horrendous and dangerous to our existing three, bring her home.
Now, in 4 or 5 years when daughter THINKS she's going to take this cat away, we will have to see. if Mittens and Maggie are best buddies, that would be cruel. But at least she would be able to visit her, and know where she was and that she was safe and loved. But...we got Ferrari and Lamborghini at about the same ages, and when they grew up they decided they didn't like each other. After 12 years, they only tolerate the presence of the other, so maybe she'll get lucky with Mittens. But, we'll see.

Just what I need, a fourth cat.

Ok 5 is MORE THAN ENOUGH. Fast forward three years and a litter of strays born in our garage... Found homes for three, one very sick one we cared for... Then one for returned to us.... So two more kittens. Lol since than our Zimmy died so we are at 6.

Ok 5 is MORE THAN ENOUGH. Fast forward three years and a litter of strays born in our garage... Found homes for three, one very sick one we cared for... Then one for returned to us.... So two more kittens. Lol since than our Zimmy died so we are at 6.

We also have 2 dogs, the three-soon-to-be-four cats, a canary, 11 parakeets/budgies, and 42 finches, plus three eggs in a nest....

And have to relocate from Connecticut to southern North Carolina by the end of next summer...

No, they're just for my enjoyment. Very occasionally I let the finches breed, when I know I have room for more.
A dozen budgies can get loud when they are all chattering, but it's mostly pretty to hear them warbling away. Until someone gets annoyed with someone else and starts scolding them.
And then there was the pretty yellow one we once had, who started out named Buttercup but quickly became Spawn of Satan, who would shriek while flapping wildly in the middle of the cage for no good reason at all....

I had a friend whose wife was a true cat hoarder, 40 or 50 cats, no care for any of them, so painful to see....No birth control, fed 'em potato chips, etc......
