2/6 Benny, AMPS 115, (+1) 88, (+2) 70, (+3 )57, (+3.5) 54, (+4) 71, (+5) 68

Whew! Bit of a wild ride this morning, but we're on the upswing again. Benny decided to come downstairs with me after his last test; something he hasn't done for quite a while. So good to see him getting better every day - he always seems perkier when he's in the low dark greens, though it sure makes me nervous.

I just had to go and say something about the lack of excitement - we've been in the green all day, not low enough to do anything about it, just low enough to keep mommy on her toes. Thank goodness I work from home and can monitor; I don't want to load him with carbs because then his BG skyrockets, so I'm doing a lot of watchful waiting to see if he swings back up on his own. He has gotten his regular meals, though his appetite seems to be normalizing; i.e., he doesn't gobble everything as fast as he can and then go looking for seconds.

But I'm on hand with a supply of LC and MC food and treats, so if I need to intervene, I can do so at the drop of a hat.

Surf is definitely up/ beautiful cycle if. Bear in mind that if you want to bump him up a smidge, not that I think he needs it at this stage, but if you do, as it's getting later in the cycle you can do that with just a teaspoon of LC, the later in the cycle you are the greater the effect of the carbs. It looks like he nadired early at +3.5 and is now just surfing along. When did you last feed?

Nice graphic! He had lunch out at about noon (+5), though he didn't eat much. It's still available if he gets hungry. I did give a couple of Greenies treats when he was into the 50s, but as long as he's not too low, I won't panic. He seems so much livelier when he's at those lower numbers that it seems that's where he needs to be. It looks like he may be on his way to a dose reduction in the coming days, so I will remain on high alert.

It's good that he's feeling good, these numbers are in a healthy range.
I'd ideally like to see him stay in these healthy numbers for a week before he earns a reduction. It will help heal and strengthen those fragile beta cells, which is what we want if we aspire to a strong remission.

I don't know what your feeding schedule is like, but looking at the ss it looks like he drops early in the cycle, and that a +1 test is quite a good indicator for how active the cycle is going to be. If this were me I would be certainly looking to feed LC snacks in the early part of the cycle to try to encourage him to surf rather than letting him dip below 50 and taking the reduction.

Just a thought.

I agree completely as far as seeing him stay in this range! As long as we've been mostly below 150 for the last several days, I'd rather not make any changes that push him back up higher than that.

His cycle has been very predictable for the most part; he gets fed at 7:30 AM, at which time he gets is AM shot. I think Scott's been feeding him at around +3, then again at +5 (before he takes his nap), and again at +9. Then we start over again with his PM cycle - food & shot at 7:30 PM, with a late night feed at 11:30, along with a little low carb kibble in case he (or his brother) need a little snack during the night.

Since his diagnosis, he had been absolutely ravenous and would eat pretty much any wet food we put down for him. Now that he is back to his normal weight and looking much healthier, his appetite seems to have settled down somewhat so he's not crazy hungry all the time.

We see the vet tomorrow for a re-check, and to see about getting his infected tooth pulled, so we won't make any changes until after that.

The bad tooth can be influencing things for sure.

I used to have a similar schedule at the start of our journey, George nadired around , +5 usually, but sometimes he nadired earlier, usually when he was intending to go low, feeding the curve led to flatter cycles, and resulted in him spending more time in green, by holding on to the dose a little longer it ultimately helped him go all green. I didn't always feed at +1, just when he dropped significantly. If you look at his Ss 201 Feb through April you can see how I fed and the change it had in his BG, counter intuitively it didn't push his BG upsignifiup sign, it flattened him and then the range lowered.

I can understand not wanting to change it up when you may have a dental in the mix. But give it some thought.
