Switched from Lantus to Levemir this morning. Ti-Mousse couldn't stand shooting anymore, maybe because of the sting of Lantus; hopefully we'll do better with Levemir. He is on AB for dental problem.

So happy, it's the 1st time since 21 days I don't test BLACK !!!

Well hopefully lev will be much better and no more skipped shots. What's up with the teeth? That can cause elevated glucoses. Is he going to get a dental?

Actual vet doesn't want to do any dental work (cleaning and extractions) until he is regulated which is a vicious circle, so I have to go vet shopping!

When Olive was on her metro AB it was horrible giving it to her every 12 hrs. So I divided her daily dose into 3 doses and gave every every 8 hrs. It made a big difference in getting it in her. Maybe you could try that.

Doesn't the vet know the dental will help get him regulated?
Yes she does, but she will not do it and in a way, I prefer that. I realised that she is very by the book and she didn't like me telling her about changing from Caninsulin to Lantus, which she didn't know could be given to cats! So I have to find a good vet comfortable with dental work on a diabetes kitty!

Have you googled specialist in your area? My previous vet was the same. Didn't know you could use human insulin. Now it's his preferred one to use. He isn't to sure about lev though.

Paws crossed the injections are much easier with Lev, and you start seeing better numbers soon. Love that you didn’t get a growl this morning. :)

The AB can be hard on their tummies. You might want to think about adding a probiotic to his meals if you aren’t already,

Hopefully it keeps on like that! For the probiotic, I just bought some Florastor; I'll sprinkle some on his food tonight. Apparently Levemir nadir is between +8 to +10, if he's like that I might change my shooting schedule. We'll see with testing... Tks again!

Yes but unfortunately there's no dentist around. My other cat is followed by an ophtalmologist; at my next appointment, I'll see if he can refer me to someone!

The Levemir depot still needs to build, you may not see much action for a few cycles. The time of the Lev nadir is ECID. Some cats are more variable than others. Neko was most often between +9 and +12, though I did spot it as early as +5 and as late as +15.
