1/26/19 Olive AMPS 141; +4.5=50; +5.5=41; +6=64; PMPS 282; +3.5=298; +6=179

I absolutely love it! Definitely love hearing her play! She's so fluffy, how long does it take you to brush her completely?

PS - I just noticed she's pickling in the lagoon! Stay safe out there Ollie!

Guess we are going to have to change up the food schedule a bit. Maybe try a +1,2,3 instead of +2, 4 times. I took this reduction before she earned it and it's only been 3 cycles. I know all the rules change cuz of the caber and acro but I don't want her to race down and end up with p'titis again. I think spending a little time in each dose wouldn't shock her systems so much. 5-7 days each dose doesn't seem to unreasonable to me.

I agree. I've been giving Ravan a little food when his bg goes low I don't want to decrease & then need to go up again. Trying to keep him in lower #'s long as I can.

It makes me Happy to hear Olive is playing. That's the best news!

Never got a complete brush, comb out done. With the nerve damage/possible spine damage (vets guess) it's to painful yet. When she first arrived you couldn't even touch her without her biting you. Before the p'titis I was able to get most her back done but not now. The stud tail is gone. Still doesn't allow belly to be touched. So I just keep doing little bits to keep the matts from forming until she allows more.

I love hearing that Olive is playing! :cat:

Olive, please head closer to the shore and away from the sharks!

So glad to see Olive making pickles...but oops...she's isn't suppose to chase that pickled shark! Got a reducie now Olive....be good for mama...:D

Really don't know what to do with dose. The numbers support reducie, I know that. Technically, analytically, medically I don't know if there any data, however, I can't help believing the rapid reductions before didn't shock or irritate the pancreas that threw her into such bad pancreatitis episode for so long. It's that I want to avoid so she can keep getting reductions but at a slower pace. Maybe take the 1/2 unit and hope for the best or only 1/4 unit and keep boosting since higher depot will affect for awhile. Can't believe she seems so sensitive and fragile with the insulin changes. And carbs look how fast she jumped up with 15%, it wasn't just the gravy. It was 1/8 tsp of food in "delicate" sauce.

I went with .25 reducie since PS was a bit up there. The depot will help make up the difference and hopefully ease into the new dose when it's readjusted.

Sometimes you have to modify the "rules" according to your experience (and your intuition). How are you counting your reductions? Generally, when a cat is not a recent diabetic, it takes 3 numbers under 50 (in different cycles) to qualify for a reduction. Below 40 is an automatic reduction regardless of anything else. Sometimes with Rusty I didn't take the "automatic reduction" because I knew the cycle in question was not usual.

surf safe, dear Olive!

She just hit the 1 yr mark of dx. My reduction point is 60 and I start boosting at 65 but normally already lower when I catch it. The cabergoline makes a big difference in what we do. It's not a matter of pancreas not working properly, it's the activity of the pituitary tumor. So if the cabergoline interrupts the activity and slows down secretion it can and was before rapid reductions. It's the caber making the calls in a way.
