Hi guys!

So I live in Canada where glucose strips are between $75-$100 CAD for 100 strips. I was thinking of driving out to the Walmart in Plattsburgh to buy the ReliOn Prime meter and strips (a two pack of 100 strips come out to $47 CAD going by the price on their website!).

My question is whether the Walmart stores usually have them in stock at their Supercenter locations.

TIA!

Ours do. A 100 pack of Relion strips at any of our Walmarts is only $20 though. A 50 pack is $10. Your prices are nuts! :o

Yeah it's psycho. I'm probably gonna pick up a good years worth of strips at that price!

I'm assuming that they don't give you the monitor free at that price lol

How long are they usually good for? Honestly at that price, and the cheaper gas, I don't even mind going a few times a year!

They are OK for a few months after they have expired..... I've used strips six months old with no problem, but I did throw out year expired strips that I didn't trust.

I just bought brand new strips for my meter (a different brand though) and they’re good until May 2020.

I only had OLD strips that expired THREE YEARS AGO. Out of interest I can measure the new beside the old and they both read the same though... I just can’t quite trust that there might be a dodgy one amongst the old ones! So this isn’t an advocate for expired strips, just that they can be used cautiously if no other option.

It's worth the drive to WallyWorld for the Prime meter and as many strips as they have or you can afford at a time. It's a commonly stocked meter right now altho' it is on the 'to be discontinued' list sometime soon. Look at the other 2 new Relion brand ones - 'Voice' and I forget the name of the other - maybe 'expression'. I know the Voice has the same cheaper strips as the Prime.

What brand strips did you buy for your meter? Different brands don’t usually work well in another brand of meter.
