So you see? Bella just likes to keep you on your toes...nothing to worry about....:) Sending you the calm down pants for next time (if there is such a thing)...Look at Luci's numbers - she likes all the colors - gotta roll with it Jamie.

Have a great day at work...it's raining here too...but just a shower so far ... looks like more to come later today - a stormy day - I suppose you gotta take the good with the bad...(for me it's not my favorite thing - those cloudy days - had too many of those up north)...but I have to work so it really doesn't matter - trapped one way or another... :bighug:

:bighug::bighug::bighug: In my kindest voice - I know - ...and I'm sorry...wish I could have been closer - would have encouraged you to come down from there (panic attack place)...and try to look at the big picture. You've been through a lot lately - losing Sammie was very traumatic and I can understand that at the first sign of a problem you're reliving that nightmare all over again - especially with the 'what-ifs' (I'm a cancer survivor and I go to that place all the time with every unusual and unexpected pain - is THAT it AGAIN?? Dark thoughts take over my mind...and I have to fight not to go to that place) so I do understand. - Bella is actually doing quite well...blood glucose is a funny thing... not always present in the blood in even amounts everywhere in the body...maybe if you have time to relax a bit today - if you have a computer - google blood sugar/diabetes and see what it says about how it presents in the blood. The more I read and study about diabetes - the more I realize how complex our bodies are - including that of our kitties - it's truly an amazing thing...

This for example is a brief explanation of the balance act that is going on constantly:

https://www.endocrineweb.com/conditions/diabetes/normal-regulation-blood-glucose

Insulin is normally secreted by the beta cells (a type of islet cell) of the pancreas. The stimulus for insulin secretion is a HIGH blood glucose...it's as simple as that! Although there is always a low level of insulin secreted by the pancreas, the amount secreted into the blood increases as the blood glucose rises. Similarly, as blood glucose falls, the amount of insulin secreted by the pancreatic islets goes down.

As can be seen in the picture, insulin has an effect on a number of cells, including muscle, red blood cells, and fat cells. In response to insulin, these cells absorb glucose out of the blood, having the net effect of lowering the high blood glucose levels into the normal range.

Glucagon is secreted by the alpha cells of the pancreatic islets in much the same manner as insulin...except in the opposite direction. If blood glucose is high, then no glucagon is secreted.

When blood glucose goes LOW, however, (such as between meals, and during exercise) more and more glucagon is secreted. Like insulin, glucagon has an effect on many cells of the body, but most notably the liver.

The Role of Glucagon in Blood Glucose Control
The effect of glucagon is to make the liver release the glucose it has stored in its cells into the bloodstream, with the net effect of increasing blood glucose. Glucagon also induces the liver (and some other cells such as muscle) to make glucose out of building blocks obtained from other nutrients found in the body (eg, protein).

Good to see Bella back to better numbers.

One day I went to mailbox and accidentally left door open all kitties were out and Bella standing in kitchen eyes huge and looked at me like DO U KNOW U LEFT DOOR OPEN!!!!:nailbiting::nailbiting:
He is so smart!
When the door was left open once, Bailey actually ran out. She is always so scared of the entire world, why would she do that? What a miserable three days. We looked for her everywhere, and she came back scampering to get back into a window. I felt so bad for her. I can only imagine how terrified she was the entire time. We are very cautious now, but if a door is ever left open again, this is the reaction I want from her:

Be smart like Bella, Bailey. Don't ever go out again.

Happy to see Bella doing Good!
Enjoy the rainy Day :D

It's all good Jamie, we're all allowed to lose our heads once in a while (I should know ;)). But it's the rest of our jobs to help you find it again.

Many hugs Jamie! :bighug::bighug:
Love the 'calm down' pants! Those are terrific!!! I'm sure there are times when we could all use 'em :) We'll pass them around like the 'patience pants' :)
