Ming seemed to have an okay cycle in the AM. He got a 185 at +5. The PM cycle however... who knows LOL
I couldn't stay awake when I came home from work last night. I fell asleep on the couch. Then fell asleep laying in the hallway after I did Ming's +2 reading. Then I finally went to bed
and didn't wake up until 4:30 am to turn off my light.
This morning, I offered some new raw food to Ming (venison flavour rad kat brand). He licked it at it but wasn't really sure or interested. Since I had put his pred in a small ball of raw food, I decided to just dig out the pred from the food ball and put it in his mouth. I then mixed a spoonful of raw food with his regular FF turkey and he started to eat. But then puked the few bites he ate.
So I don't know if he vomited because I stuck the pred in his throat or because he doesn't like the venison lol. Anyway, I opened a new can of FF chicken after 5 minutes to let him calm down and then he ate it like normal: with speed and enthusiasm.
As to why I couldn't even convince my eyelids to stay open last night:
Two more people got sick at work today! Vet/boss asked me to disinfect all the keyboards and doorknobs if I had time (I only had time to disinfect some phones and the doorknobs). While we weren't very short staffed because locum technicians were called in to replace the sick technicians, I was the only vet assistant on the floor. I've done it before many times being the only vet assistant (the floor is responsible for helping the 2 doctors in appts, the tech appts that come in, and recovering surgery patients), but yesterday was BRUTAL. It was SOO BUSY (cats kept getting hospitalized for the day, x-rays needed to be done and I was the only one with a dosimeter so guess who had to do it? The non-locum technicians were all in surgery and so busy as well) and the locum techs aren't familiar with the things I do/we do so they couldn't really help me out when I needed it. I don't blame them or expect them to know so it was just more difficult for me
The constipated cat came in and it was SKIN AND BONES. The receptionist told me they were going to euthanize her yesterday but decided to give it another shot. Did an enema and fed her. Then she went home. I wish we had given subq fluids or something but oh well... Sometimes animals come in and I think, it's time for them to go to heaven and while I've never made that decision before, I hope I'm able to distinguish when it's time for my own pets so I don't prolong the suffering.
Also someone ordered an alphatrak meter and it's been siting in the cabinet for two weeks. TWO WEEKS! I hope this person is testing BSL with a human meter or something...
