Ideas on this fresh food?

Have seen this fresh food in local supermarket.
Just posting to see what people think of the ingredients in it.

From Dr. Pierson's food list HERE it appears either would be fine although the first option has garlic powder which I would think would be contra indicated in any cat food but maybe the powder doesn't contain the offending component that makes garlic toxic to cats. Curious.
I'm assuming the first picture and detail is a Freshpet product too. If not ignore the info I pulled off the food list.

Please check the list yourself to make sure I picked off the right foods as I'm just guessing from what I can see in the pics.;)
 
I've never heard of this brand, maybe it's new to the UK? As Linda says, garlic is usually a no-no so that's odd. Worth looking into. Looks like the item in the first pic also contains tapioca so not ideal for diabetics.

Keep an eye on the best before date too - does the second pic say 24 Jan - that's Thursday.
 
Yeah @Diana&Tom I came across them today in Tesco. Not seen them before and thought they looked interesting and maybe as a little treat now and then for all the kitties.
Wasn't too sure on them though cause if the vegetable and like you say garlic.
@MrWorfMen's Mom yeah they are both fresh pet foods.

Yes, maybe as an occasional thing. I'll look out for them next time I go to Tesco - or the other supermarkets, I go to them all depending which ine I'm passing by!
 
@Diana&Tom I haven't seen them anywhere else yet so think it might be a new thing that there doing.

I'm just trying to find something I can give them abit of viarity with.
I unly feed them the butcher's tins at the moment. And then cook chicken breast for them. But would like something I can give them just to stop it getting too boring.
I have looked at all the foods suggested by @Elizabeth and Bertie spreadsheet but get a little scared in trying something new now(due to the various sugars and vegetable extract that's in most foods) as were doing so well with numbers and don't want to upset that.

Yes it's difficult I know, we want to give them some variety but hard to know what to try so all we can do really is buy small amounts of some things and give them a go. I used to feed a lovely German food called Miamor from Zooplus but they stopped doing it in the varieties I wanted. There was another brand I used to order from Zooplus called Animonda which was almost too good - my cat literally gobbled up a whole tray at a time - so I wondered what was in it and stopped buying it. Now I get mostly Nature's Menu from Fetch which is good quality meat, but I do worry sometimes about the lack of variety. So if I go to Tesco and see a small size of this new food you've found, I'll give it a go.

If you shop in Sainsburys, btw, there's a good food called Delicious which comes in small boxes of six pouches and is also good qiality. Pouches are dearer than tins whicb is often a consideration in a multi-cat household, but you could buy a few of these if you want to ring the changes.

Is that the Sainsbury's home brand?
I have looked at that but again I think there's vegetable extract in it again?

Not sure what the Animonda had in it but it was very palatable! I used it to wean my cat off Whiskas which is very low in meat content - it did the trick but almost too well.
The Sainsbury Delicious is their own brand yes, but more meat content than the standard cheaper 12 box pouches that are like Whiskas, Felix, etc. It's fine for non diabetics but if you're concerned about keeping carbs to an absolute minimum you'd have to study the packet. I think Tesco does or did a similar thing, ie better quality pouches.
Another brand I used to like was Hi Life which again was better than the major supermarket brands as far as quality is concerned. I stopped feeding that because the liver in it dudn't agree wuth my cat.
At the end of the day, a lot of it is down to budget and how strongly you feel about quality nutrition. You usually get what you pay for. If your cats aren't too fussy, I'd go with some better quality, dearer stuff and balance it out with some cheaper stuff that they like, as long as they don't get addicted to that!

Hi Becki, just did calculations for these, and in terms of 'percentage of calories from carbs' the first has 8.7% and the second has 6.4% (according to label data (and as much as my old eyes can actually read that, haha!)). But....I'm not convinced about some of the ingredients.... ...And the pea protein may well have an effect on blood glucose.... Then again it may not! But with a kitty in remission I'm not sure I'd want to risk it. Just my ten cents...

Yeah that's what I was thinking that put me off it. Was just an idea. I may just buy some of the Sainsburys delicious food and just give them that as an odd treat here and there to mix it up abit. :D
