So Little One hasn't had good numbers in quite a bit (only started at home testing a bit ago). But he recently went up to 3.5 and I'm finally seeing some! He seems SUPER affected by food, however, and I'm wondering about that. For instance, today he had the lowest nadir since he was diagnosed 12/7/18. Then his PMPS was 253 (low for him!) but post food (about 4 oz of fancy feast turkey and giblets), his BG shot up. I'll test again as late as I stay up, but that seems to be quite a jump. (And no, I don't think it was a hypo bounce because I tested less than 1 hour after shooting with food, and I've had some pretty consistent curves before this).

Thoughts?

Little One isn't used to numbers in the blues, so tonight he is bouncing. I have seen my girl jump up just as much that quickly when she was getting used to lower numbers. It's a perfectly normal protective reaction from his body. It's not got anything to do with feeding.

Have you decided yet if you'd like to follow Tight Regulation protocol or the Start Low Go Slow Method for dosing?

Well, it’s been about one-two weeks per each increase and now my vet wants to hold steady at a week at 3.5. I’ve read some of the posts about TR vs SLGS, but I’m not sure if that falls in. I’m definitely testing for AMPS/PMPS daily and trying to get others when I can, at least something close to a daily nadir. Would that qualify as tight regulation?

And I thought Lantus kicked in slower- would we see that high of a bounce only an hour after shooting? Thanks!

Did you retest to see if it was a bad strip? That sad, your girl's body is used to these higher numbers so it is not out of the realm for her body to "bounce" up to the level it is used it.

I will have to retest again in the future when that happens! I’m gonna get one more test in sometime tonight, and see what his numbers look like before I go to bed.

TR requires testing each preshot, plus one other test per cycle. It also requires feeding an all low carb wet food or raw diet.

Yeah I’m definitely doing that. He eats only the pate fancy feast, and I always test at least three times per day!
