Oh JoyBee! I studied his SS and I cant figure it out either - I hope some of the experts have some words of wisdom for you. He's a real puzzle isn't he? Likes all the colors - like Luci. I try to roll with it...I look at it this way - I'm doing what I can to help her get better - the rest is up to her. Since none of our kitties can read the 'How to Recover from Feline Diabetes' instruction manual nor can they tell time or read the calendar..they're just doing what they do:facepalm:

You're helping him...and he will come along for the ride or he won't. Luci's busy with her high dives and it appears Ravan prefers that method as well...let's hope they're not plotting together to drive us crazy!:p

Have a good day Joy!:bighug:

Good morning JoyBee!
Ravan had green on the 11th and the 12th; he could be bouncing from them. Also, since he got a dosecrease on the 11th, he could have some NDW (new dose wonkiness) which happens when the depot has to fill to a new level. It's been 5 full cycles since the dosecrease so the depot should certainly be filled by now. And hopefully you'll see and end to the bounce today.

That all makes sense to me. I hope Ravan comes down from that bounce today.

It's difficult to "understand" why a week ago he dropped into 40's & did NOT bounce for 5 cycles???

I've been told a bounce occurs when he drops to low Bg that his body isn't used to. He was in green & blue for 5 days (a week ago) & still bounced into very high #'s.
I find this very confusing? ( and it does not make sense to me?)

It's nearly a year, how long does it take for his body to "get used to" blue or green #'s?

Each kitty is different and sometimes the kitty changes its mind as to how its going to react in any given situation:rolleyes: Look at Boomer's ss for example......all of a sudden he's surfing along in low-mid blues. Don't know why. No change to dose or anything else. He came down from the bounce and surfed. And it could end just as quickly with no reason.

And it could end just as quickly with no reason.

So difficult NOT to let it bother me!!!:arghh: I'm the kinda person who just "has to Know why"

(I used to drive the nuns crazy in catholic school asking questions. When I couldn't find the answers reading, I left organized religion!) I have a need to understand why something is the way it is! Sometimes it drives everyone crazy including me!

It's so hard not to get frustrated when a week later they are not doing the same thing as the week before. And it's not uncommon for them to dance around the same dose a few times. For instance, a week ago the 1 unit was too much and now it seems it's not enough........remember that insulin is a hormone not a medicine and they need what the need when they need it.

But ,he did show greens on the 11th and the 12th and this is the 4th cycle since the last green. It can take up to 6 cycles to clear and this cycle is looking like a flat yellow.........you know what that means?

I am going to loan you my patience pants as they are a little snug on me now. ( okay, they are no where near my size! :p)

I just checked his Bg +7 is still 247 nearly the same as 4 hrs ago :banghead: 3 cycles in yellow??? Never did that before?
So you don't think he's just in high #'s & needs an increase at pmps?

Those pants are hysterical!

I would give it the 6 cycles for the bounce to clear. If you give an increase and he clears the bounce the same cycle it could make for a wild ride. Patience Grasshopper.

Just read this on a post about high BG The spikes are almost as bad for the cat's long term health as sustained high BG levels, so they should be stopped. Besides the other things damaged by high blood glucose, the poor old liver gets extra stress, and the long-suffering kidneys are thrown into overdrive again.
