Good morning all,
I increased Lou to 3.25u at PMPS yesterday. No surprise that there wasn't much activity, but I hope he'll put it to work today. Unfortunately, he's still peeing outside the LB. :arghh::arghh::banghead::banghead::arghh::arghh: I put a pee pad down on the area after cleaning it last night and had to change the pad this morning. I ended up throwing an extra LB there for now to see if that helps. I did some research and found even with thorough cleaning, the smell is likely still there because it's seeped into the concrete. So I'll need to buy some additional cleaning supplies and scour the basement floor. Ugh. It's always something in this house apparently. At least I can take comfort knowing he's only peeing downstairs on the concrete floor and not on my bed or carpets. Small comfort, but still.

What gets me is he knows better, I know he does. He's been with me for 8 or 9 years now, why is this an issue now? At least if it had been a UTI there could be an end in sight, but now I have no idea what started it, which means how do I end it? I wish I had better news today. I'm sick and tired of being a negative nelly...

I hope you all have a wonderful day today and your kitties surf safely. Sending vines to Mr. Jones (@Tracey&Jones) and Miss P (@Phoebes), and to anyone else in need. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hope the LB situation clears up, I hate when they do that
Bring it on down Lou, alot of kitties in the trees tbis am

Better yellow than pink start.

Have you watched Lou in the LB? When Neko started getting arthritis, it became harder for her to squat down, so I got the occasional "fly over". Getting a high sided box with an entrance might help. How long since you last replaced the LB? After time the plastic absorbs odors.

Yes indeed! I'm super excited for his PMPS! It's his lowest before this all started (12/23)! I hope this is an indication of things to come!

I haven't had the chance actually, if I didn't see the evidence I wouldn't even know he uses the LBs. I'm actually wondering if you might be on to something though. He actually used the litterbox I put down in his new pee spot (it's not as high-walled), and I noticed some had gone over the edge. However, he used it at least once, possibly twice. Is there anything to do to help arthritis? I'll try to see if I can catch him in the LB to see if there are any issues. ....I don't think I've noticed any walking issues, but could this be the start of neuropathy from the high BGs?

The litter boxes were new in September, but it would be worth cleaning them or replacing them (they're just $5 totes from Walmart) to see if that helps. That's an easy fix at least. Thanks for the suggestions Wendy!

Hope Lou comes down for you tonight with that lower PMPS.
There were several good tips on the LB issue today. I hope it gets resolved soon.

Lots you can try for the arthritis pain (Cosequin/Adequan, etc.) but try a less amount of litter in the LB. I also pushed more to one end so he has firmer ground to stand on. I had the same "overshoot" issue because Gizmo was a bigger size so didn't want to go with the lower sides LB's. Never could figure out why he poo'ed outside the LB 90% of the time but he did that for most of his life ^^shrug^^

It could be neuropathy. Are you giving oral B12 (methylcobalamin)?

Lou's a big boy too, which is why we went with the big totes, so he'd have more room. Our civvie Bella also likes to "clean" the litter box, so the higher sides limits the flying litter when she's trying to help.:rolleyes: Lou's not on anything other than a preventative dose of D-mannose right now. He's never had any neuropathy issues before, so I've never had a reason to get any B12. Perhaps I need to get some to be on the safe side.
