Dosing Advice Requested

I have been trying to smooth Andy out by using food manipulation and a higher dose. He earned a reduction on 12/31 that I did not take for that reason other than for 1/1 am due to being away. But he definitely earned a reduction again today. I feel I should now reduce to 1.5 for a few cycles again to see where it goes from there. I still plan to use food to try to smooth him out for a while. Thanks for advice/comments.

Hi there. I just looked at the SS. You were right to take the reduction on 1/1 to 1.5u. But I don't understand why you increased back to 1.75u that night. Any numbers in the 30's warrant an immediate reduction. Please reduce back to 1.5u and let the new depot fill at least 6 cycles.

Since Andy is a long term diabetic, he earns reductions when he goes below 40. It is strongly recommended to reduce below 40, so I would do so now.Save the food manipulation to try to prevent him from dropping into low numbers. If you can’t prevent it, then it means he really needs that reduction.

As for how long to hold the dose after the reduction, we don’t wait for the depot to fill. It is full, and perhaps a little too full, which is why you’ve been seeing the 30’s. You hold the reduced dose long enough for the bounce to be over, then you see where the nadirs land. If they aren’t green, the reduction failed. The length of time for the bounce to be over could be uomto six cycles, or it could be less. ECID.

Mandy - I was trying to manipulate using food and a higher dose to smooth him out and keep him in the blues for a longer time.
