Got down to blues/greens "without" any food manipulation. :joyful: Delayed am shot 45 min. I can't figure out why he is lower at night cycle other than he is always super active during that cycle and more lazy during the day. I assumed being more lazy may be the result of higher #'s during the day but he is not consistent on that either. It will be interesting to see where he goes today.

? ? For those of you that use food manipulation (hate the sound of that), is it better to just pick a regular food timing schedule and stick with that regardless of his bg or base it all on what his numbers are? I have been basing it on where he is at the time to try to smooth his bg's but he is inconsistent so maybe I should pick a schedule and just stick with that? I do have an auto-feeder to use but lots of civies too.:cat: I am new to this concept so any advice is helpful. Thanks.

Cats often drop at night. Max was one of those. I’d stoptesting at night and wake up sometimes to a low green number. I steered him withfood to slow the drop. What I fed depended upon his bg tests. I’d feed lc mostly but add a little mc to slow him down and add mc to prevent a reduction at times. For the first year he was a rainbow kitty. You will figure out how to guide yours the more you test.

I think it totally depends on the kitty. My buddy Lou isn't a deep-diver with this BGs, but I have found having a consistent feeding schedule has been great and gives me more confidence about where his numbers are or at least should be. So I don't steer the BGs/curve with food at all, I just feed according to the schedule. The only time I go off schedule is if I do a test and he's low, I give the MC or HC as needed. The consistency seems to work for us. I know we have a couple deep divers on the board here who have to steer with food more. They might have a different perspective. :)

Thank you for the feedback. I have been up almost all night lately -setting alarm for every hour etc and it's starting to take a toll on me. I have Andy over 3 yrs on different types of insulin and have not yet figured him out. Just when I think I have it, he throws a curve! I need to find something that works for both of us.

PS This board is my only help - vet does not recommend Lantus!

Thank you. I wanted to try to steer his #'s but I am tending to a more consistent schedule rather than feeding by bg's, other than lows. Having 20 other civies, including another sugarbaby, is almost dictating that right now. I am trying to get something that works for both of us with no harm to Andy so trying to get as much feedback as possible.
