Damn it! Something is definitely going on. Day 15 with no insulin, and she has been doing fine, except the last couple of days. Now her blood sugar has gone up to amost 8, and Kitty is tired. She mostly wants to sleep.

There are a few possible options:
- A new flare on pancreatitis? But she is still eating.
- Pneumonia coming back? She has been without antibiotics since 14th of december
- Her teeth bothering her (the antibiotics might have made the teeth situation better for a short while)
- She has been itching her ear more than usual. Could this be something?

I really do not want her pancreas struggeling again. Should I start giving insulin to support it?

Getting your vet's input on all of the above is a good idea. FWIW, the need for a dental is the most common reason a cat falls out of remission. You are correct that a dental problem can be temporarily helped by antibiotics so it's possible if there is a dental issue, the ABs may have helped.

Let us know what the vet has to say.

And we are back on Baytril. Vets thought (and I agree) that we probably just knocked that pneumonia out temporarily, instead of killing it off. She listened to all my theories, checked ears and teeth (which she didn't think was too bad), and we landed on pneumonia (pancreatitis unlikely as no lack of appetite, vomit or diarrhea). Also due to her history of hard to beat pneumonias. She has a couple swollen lymph nodes.

Give it a day or two before starting insulin again?

I wouldn't restart insulin just yet. I'd wait and see if the AB helps. She's not that high. How long does she need to take the AB? Don't forget to make a note on her SS when she's taking the AB. :bighug::bighug:

I will do :) We don't know yet, but at least 2 weeks. So her dental prosponed, yet again /sigh. Luckily the vet didn't think the teeth were too bad, but agreed it should get done when she is healthy enough.
I guess this diabetes sort of came in "handy" this time. If it wasn't for her blood sugar, I guess I would have thought she just had "lazy days", as Kitty some times does.

Sending feel better soon wishes to Kitty. Good job with the very proactive observations and vet visit. What a great momma you are!
