Phooey, another PS number that's lower than I've ever shot. On 12/17 I shot when a 103 rose to 114 after two half-hour stalls, first stall was flat. So...

1) Stall another 30mins, though looks like we're falling.

2) Although we haven't dropped below 90 on this dose, the recent pattern has been a reduction every three days :). So maybe I could start an unearned reduction to 0.25u tonight.

3) Take this as a simple No Shot.

I am so happy to see these numbers. But they keep challenging me.

Meanwhile, I'm getting the evil eye because the evening test is supposed to signal that dinner is about to be served.

OK, the second stall got me a 98. Which doesn't help at all.

Since the first stall, Thos has been pathetically whining and crying. A core competency of his :). But hard for me to take.

I hate doing an NS, but I've never shot green.

Are you able to test tonight and do you have plenty of supplies?

All of those numbers are basically the same, so he's surfing.

If you're able to test tonight for as long as might be necessary and have plenty of HC foods, I'd go ahead and shoot the .5

Test at +1 and +2 so you can intervene early if you need to.

The only way to learn is to try it

I'll try to keep an eye out for your +1 and +2

And for shooting your first green Pre-shot, here's your BOS award!! Congratulations!!

Oh, please, don't jinx me. I can't accept till we get through this without injury :).

He just whipped through one-and-a-half portions of his LC FF paté (~1.5oz), so we should probably check till at least +3, to get past the fueling rush?

I'd still get a +1 and +2....we always recommend those for people who are shooting lower numbers the first few times.

The +1 is a "lost test" but should be done every now and then. It helps you learn how much of a "food bump" your cat usually gets so that when you DO shoot a lower number, you have an idea of what's going to happen.

The +2 is a really good test to get anytime because it can almost predict what's going to happen later in the cycle. If it's lower than the Pre-shot, it's your "early warning" that you need to plan on getting more tests in later in the cycle.

I'm going to have to get off here for tonight...got lots of stuff I still need to do for tomorrow's Christmas Eve stuff.

But I'm not leaving you alone. I've asked @Bron and Sheba (who's in Australia so it's early evening there for her) to keep an eye on you.

If we encourage someone to shoot a lower Pre-shot than they've shot before, we never leave them unless we have someone else with experience to take over. I would have stayed up all night with you (if necessary) if I couldn't find someone I trusted.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Eve day!!

Hi Tom and Thomas
Chris has asked me if I can keep an eye on you as it is getting pretty late for her.
Great shooting tonight. Always a bit scary first time.
I think I would get a + 3 so we can see what Thomas has in mind this cycle.

You could give another teaspoon of low carb food, but not too much in case we need him to eat later.
And I'd get a +4. Looks like a long night for you! But he's looking great!

He stepped out for a couple minutes, but plowing through another bit of food.

Yes, the last three weeks have been pretty amazing. I wish I'd focused on his dosing better before now.

Sorry, when I hit a certain level of tired, like two nights without much sleep, I get a bit slow and muddled-headed.

If you think you might fall asleep make sure you set the alarm for the next hour. It can be hard thinking straight when you are tired, but you are not on your own and at this point I am wide awake.;)

+4=85. So not dropping. Would it be prudent to hang in for a +5?

I won't fall asleep. Anyhow, one of the babies (I call them, two sisters, the babies even though they're 8 now) is very awake and wants me to play. I just worry that I'll seem to you a bit dull and less than wholly gracious.

Of course not! Dull is fine anyway!:joyful: We don’t want too much excitement!
Yes I think I would hold off on the food this time and see what he is at +5.

Well, we've certainly had some excitement here of late. And I'd hoped Thos would just cruise blue today so I could give him a rest from incessant ear jabs.

I'll be back in a bit!

Those greens are beautiful healing numbers so try and enjoy them. I know it is stressful at first seeing them but remember that while you are testing the BSLs and have the tools to bring him up higher if necessary, you are in control of the situation.

Our +5 is 94, which I hope counts as rising. Or should I plan on another check?

I am, of course, delighted to see the greens and know, if we're lucky, they reflect a healing pancreas. And while I am a champion worrier, the board and the people on it give me a lot of confidence and comfort. What stresses me most is how much this stresses my guy. He is fiercely devoted to me and amazingly compliant, but he hates the testing.

(editing to change 95 to 94)

Try humming or singing to him when you test. Do you give him a small treat date testing?
He's surfing nicely. I'd get another test in 2 hours if you can manage it..you could set the alarm and wake up.
What do you think of that?

Yes, I'll try for another test in two hours.

I try to be kind but direct with the testing. He really does understand when I say we have to do something. So just a nice hello and apology before. My thanks and a kiss after. And a treat. I try to keep it clear that extended affectionate conversation will never turn into an ear jab.
