Last night not eating ,vomited several times. Skipped shot this morning.

How do they know its the worst possible time to pull this? Tigger had no appetite all day yesterday, and sure enough as I was going to bed at midnight I heard him vomiting. In his case he seemed to be having a rather large, constipated BM - I don't mean to get graphic, but it would have made a lion proud! Today? Back to normal! I was worried I would be in the same boat on a Sunday, right before xmas, figuring out if/where to take him. Thankfully his miralax works pretty good usually, but I can't not forget it even once!

fingers crossed for Ravan

he needs to go the vet, Joy.

I have no way to reach my Vet till after Christmas. He doesn't give out his phone # (I've been going there for 20 yrs) . If he's treating the cat for a serious illness he gives you a code # that alerts him & he calls you. Because Ravan 's been doing fine I have not needed that code#.

The emergency clinic is the place I took Ravan's brother 2 yrs ago due to breathing difficulty. After an xray they informed me he had Lung cancer. They gave me bupe & said he was in pain. I gave it to him later in the morning & he went into respiratory failure. (When I looked it up it said "Do not give bupe to an animal with breathing problems.can cause severe respiratory collapse." The next day the Emergency Dr. called & told me they had an "Expert" look at his Xray & he did NOT have Cancer! Just an infection that could be treated.
So I'm on my own. I will not bring any of my cats to that emergency clinic! My vet is well liked & is swamped with appointments. When I call after Christmas I probably won't get in for over a week.

I gave Ravan slippery Elm & a few drops of CBD OIL. at 11am. I slept 3 hrs & when I got up he was hungry. He ate a large spoon of Weruva chicken. His sister Peggy Sue is still not eating. I'm guessing it's a virus. They only went outside in my yard once for a few mins 2 weeks ago. Where would they get a virus from?

Joy, I am so sorry, I did not get your tag until now as I wasn't online all day.

I am so sorry Raven is having some issues. I read yesterday's thread and it's a bit curious that Peggy Sue and he both had some issues. Wondering if it's a feline virus. Going outside cold predispose them to virus brought into your yard by other cats.

For nausea, try with mixing 1/4 tsp of slippery elm bark with 1/2 tsp of George's aloe vera juice and making a little ball then placing it on the roof of their mouth's 30 minutes before meal time.

Has the vomiting stopped? Please keep them hydrated by syringing water into them often.

Please keep us posted. Keeping good thoughts that this passes soon.

Oh, Joy, glad Ravan ate a bit but wow, two kitties not feeling good. You must be worn out. I hope the kits get better quickly. Wish I was closer so I could help hydrate. XOXO

Peggy Sue and he both had some issues

No need to apologise I understand everyone is busy for the Holidays.( not me I didn't even decorate or put up a tree, My son lives in Texas with my grandkids & my other son is going out to eat tomorrow with his girlfriend. With Ravan & Peggy Sue being sick I'm just staying home.)

I never see stray cats around here for a few years now. I do have racoon ,possum & squirrels. I have 3 cats Ravan & his sister have had a drippy nose for nearly 3 weeks Since there's no temp & they were eating I thought it must be from the change in the weather or maybe allergies.

But after last night I think it might be a virus. I'm not sure there's much to do for a virus? They all get supplements in a syringe. Vit c b e Fish oil. It's strange the 3rd cat, Alice doesn't have it? She sleeps & eats with the two that are sick.

Ravan & Peggy are still off their food just picking at anything I offer. No one has vomited since 5AM.It's weird they both vomited last night. They eat different food so it wasn't from what they ate?

I plan on giving Ravan 1 unit of insulin at his shot time 9:30.I just hope he will eat something. Being up all night & 3 hrs sleep today is catching up with me.

so I could help hydrate

I have Ringers lactate that Peggy Sue gets a few times a week. Ravan drinks a lot of water so I don't feel he needs it. Thank you for wanting to help!

Have you tried slippery elm bark

Yes Slippery Elm is an old stand by for me. I even take it for my reflux.
For the cats I add a few drops of CBD oil & it always works. It gets them eating in a few hours & keeps them from getting constipated!

I plan on getting the marshmallow root also. I haven't tried it yet.I'm worried about the SEB getting difficult to obtain I read the trees are endangered. I plan on buying more just in case.

Thanks Lizzie for the kind wishes!

I'm sorry Ravan and Peggy Sue have not been feeling well. It is encouraging that they are beginning to eat for you, and I hope they continue to improve. I don't have any new ideas to add, but I do hope that one of the suggestions mentioned in the thread help you get Ravan stabilized.

Are there any other vets in your area that you could try who may be more available than the one you see now? Maybe consider a vet practice where the vets take turns to provide as much coverage as possible.

After seeing 389 at +4 I did NOT expect a big drop. He didn't want to eat at 12:30am.3:30 he only took a few bites . I guess I can expect a big bounce :(

Pull out all the yummy stuff to

the Liver Shake?

Believe me I tried "everything" Ravan usually loves Raw Liver that's considered his "Treat" now he won't touch it. Next week he'll probably love it again! You guys know how that works.

He will eat the Lousy Fancy Feast with gravy but, I need to add the binder for his Kidney disease & he is so picky that he must taste the binder & then barely eats the FF
When I get really desperate I don't add the Binder, then he'll gobble it up.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Hope you have a Wonderful Christmas :D

I don't think the phosphorous in the fancy feast will hurt him on a very short term basis; it's most important that he start to eat. If the fancy feast with gravy is all he'll eat now (without the p binder) then that's what I would be feeding him and, once he's eating better, start adding the p binder back gradually (or switch him back over to his normal diet).
