I was going to increase but Ravan is still getting green #'s I sure wish I knew why he's back to bouncing in High #'s after doing so good.

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA)

I'd appreciate some thoughts on why Ravan is back to getting High bg. He was doing good ,gradually coming down & a few days ago bounced to 512 & stayed high for 3 cycles. Right now he's back to 351. I was going to increase but he still goes to green in the night?

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.

I have no idea what's going on, but boy is that a tough situation. Those bounces are so extreme!

The only other thing I can think of is constant testing to try to slow down his drops with food. I don't know if that would work, or just drive the two of you crazy. Hope the experts come up with a good solution for you.

Everyone just keeps telling me there's nothing to do. Just have to wait it out & some kitties will always bounce :(

He hasn't been dropping real low ever since that huge bounce a few days ago.I'm up every few hrs during the night & he gets food, so testing isn't going to help. He was doing real good before that bounce from hell!:(

You could increase the dose and feed higher carb going into the nadir. See if you could level him off some.

Do you feed anything after nadir? What % of carb are you currently feeding?

This is a tough one. It can take up to 3 days to clear a bounce (72 hours). Ravan did that. Now, after a couple of good days he seems to want to climb again. I don't know what to tell you. He's a cat :cat:! You could try just fattening the dose a little and see what happens. Don't go all the way up to 1.25U, but just put a little fat on the dose. Do you use calipers? If not, perhaps you might want to look at Marje's post on dosing with calipers. The calipers make measuring micro increases and decreases easier--and certainly more consistent.
Sorry not to be of much help. Some cats just like to bounce!

I feed Ravan pretty much whenever he's hungry. His regular food is a raw meat diet . Occasionally he'll get Low carb canned like Weruva or Soulistic. I rarely ever feed High carb Even when He dropped into 40's I gave Med carb 13-15%

I don't feed 2 hrs before shots. Things have gotten a bit turned around. When he was dropping a lot at night i was testing every few hours & feeding him. Now he wakes me every 2 -3 hrs to be fed! It's just easier to give some food & go back to sleep.
Then I'm up all day doing stuff & he sleeps all day!!!

He was doing really good up until this last High bounce that lasted longer than ever.It drives me crazy not knowing why that happened.

Thanks for the advice & checking in on us :):bighug:

I was thinking of trying that. Maybe amps.

Ravan has bounced since the beginning but the bounce a few days ago was so unexpected. It stayed high for nearly 3 cycles & it lasted longer than any before.

I guess I'm just one of the few unlucky ones that has a Kitty that continues to bounce into high #'s :(

No matter how hard I try I still get depressed when it happens.

Ravan is a happy and relatively healthy 16-year old.

I think I'm more worried about his Kidney disease. When he stays at High #'s he leaks urine a LOT. It just drips out of him. I have pads all over the house. When his BG goes lower it stops. I'm sure the High BG isn't good for his Kidneys.

I have 2 other kitties that have health problems also. One from the Same litter as Ravan. The other a little stray kitten I took in over 16 yrs ago.

Thank you for your advice & encouragement. :)
