Just a quick update because mama is tired (heck, mama is wiped out!)

Had orthopedic surgeon yesterday (shot in shoulder), pain clinic today (5 hour drive that ended up being 7 1/2 due to fog) and have to go back to ortho surgeon tomorrow morning for another shot in my knee.

Basically, I'm falling apart.....but China's doing good!!

We started the Darwin's food last night and she liked it! That's a relief, although I would still rather have RadCat back due to the phosphorus issue. I added phosphorus binder tonight and she still ate it, so I guess that's what I'll have to do for now.

It's days like today that I'm glad I have so much data on China though. That 50 at +4 had me questioning if I could go or not, but when I called to ask about rescheduling, they couldn't get me in before my pump ran dry so I had to kiss her on the head and trust her to be safe.

Hope you're all having a good Thursday and your kitties are feeling great!

Glad to hear China is doing well! I have switched Darwin over to Answer’s raw food, and was surprised how quickly he took to it. I was debating trying Darwin’s (food) - maybe I should give it a go.

Sending healing vines for you!

Hi Chris, Sorry you had such a rough day. Tomorrow will be better! Sending you a beautiful bouquet of healing vines.:bighug::bighug: Good luck with the shot in the knee tomorrow.

It's good that China likes the new food. Almost as good as a hot dog?:cat:

You can't beat their intro offer....only $14.95 for 10lbs!

They set you up on a plan that sends you 20lbs more every so many weeks (depending on how much your cat weighs/eats) but you can adjust it to your actual needs.

China wouldn't touch the Answers. We tried that awhile back and she gave it a definite paws down. She tried to bury it....LOL

Yay on the paws up for Darwins. Don't buy too much, though - you know what will happen.

Chris do you know what the phosphorus is in the Darwins? On the web site it states 2.52 but I don't know how to compare that with "under 200" like on Dr. Pierson's chart? I do add Binder to some of his canned food but he just picks at it if I even add a pinch.
It's good that China likes it & will eat it with the binder.

My Ravan has suddenly gone up to over 400 & now 500 He's eating good & acting normal I have not see his BG this High for this long ever! He was doing good for quite a while in green & blue. I have no idea what's going on? I thought he was coming down this morning but he then went even higher ,over 500.
I'm so worried & stressed out!

My son had stem cells injected into both knees about 3 months ago. He's a runner. He ran a few 26 mile marathons. Last week he tried a 100 mile Marathon in Houston. It was cold & raining so he only did 50 miles!
I guess the stem cell worked!

Best of luck with your injections. I hope they help you :)

She can tell it's there, but not very much I guess...she starts out eating great (like she used to with the RadCat) but after awhile, she definitely slows down.....a little sprinkle of FortiFlora gets her going again though!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it would convert to 252.....but again, I'm not sure.

Maybe @Marje and Gracie will be able to help us. She's better with those figures than I am.

If she see's the tag, here's where we're getting our information

She's better with those figures than I am.

Marje was out of town & very busy last time i pm'd her so I'll call the company on Monday & ask them.
I think the phosphorus is high because they use Bone in the mix They have a Kidney diet but it's by Vet's Prescription only.

When I made my own raw diet I used ground egg shell which is low in Phos. I may try again to make it & see if Ravan will eat it this time.

Thanks for the info.

It also contains a bunch of cra* that cats don't need to be eating in the first place. I "mentioned" that fact to their customer service rep. but didn't get a very intelligent answer.

Stuff like beets, zucchini, celery, parsley, dandelion root, turmeric, tomato pomace and cranberry powder

Hi Chris, I'm pretty beat so need to head off to bed. Check out this old post between Marje and me. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...pmps-130-183-2-161-6-183.174090/#post-1908598
If you go to the very bottom and read the last couple of posts you'll see we are talking about Darwin's Intelligent Design.
It's from when I was had just gotten Uncle's Stage 2 CKD diagnosis and was looking for a lower phosphorus food than the regular Darwins I had been feeding him.

@JoyBee&Ravan

I don’t like the way they report their P because if someone just glances at it without reading the chart, they might think that 2.51 is the percentage of P which often how it is reported on a dry matter basis. In this case, reading the fingerprint indicates that it is grams in 1000 kcal which is also a weird way to put it as most show it as gP/100 kcal. At any rate, 2.51 g/1000kcal is 251 g/100kcal and that is pretty high in P. BTW, if it had been 2.51% on a DMB, that is also really high.
