Tucker has been at 3 units for 8 meals/4 days but 2 of those days we gave a reduced dose because his BG was maintaining a low. Last night he was 8.3 at dinner test, at +3 he shot up to 13.1, but at +6 6.7, +8 5.1, and now at AMPS 5.2/94. Should I shoot the 3 units or what?
@Bron and Sheba @Wendy&Neko @Bobbie And Bubba @JeffJ If any of you are around??

I forgot to mention that at the 5.1 3:30am test, I gave him half a can of FF low carb because I was so exhausted I was afraid I would sleep through an alarm just in case he continued to drop.

When you change the dose as you did, you restart the count so Tucker has had 4 cycles on the 3 units.
The higher numbers last night look like a bounce.
Were you asking because you thought you should increase or decrease?
I would stay with the 3 units. We need to let the depot stabilise again and he has been getting good numbers on the 3.

A couple days ago, after you got that 31 on 3.0 units, I had suggested dropping the dose to 2.75 units.

I was looking through the different posts for advice because I thought 2.75 had been discussed. I'm home today so can do tests, if he has a low cycle I am going to drop him to 2.75 at the PMPS. It's remarkable how for months he was slowly pushing up the insulin levels to get him out of the pinks and then yellows and now we are on our way down the syringe because he is responding to the insulin and dropping into greens.

That's what happens sometimes....you go up until they reach a "breakthrough" and then they start coming down!

Another reason why we tell people to test before every shot and on every cycle....cats are notorious about being unpredictable!

Yes, after seeing this play out in front of me I cannot imagine being told to stick to one dose and not make any adjustments until he was vet-checked for a curve. In Tucker's case, he usually looks fantastic when he is in the green's! It would have been devastating if we had shot a set-dose not knowing he was in the lime greens....

Agree with Chris - we have seen some cats get that breakthru at a certain dose, then the come down...ultimately requiring less insulin.

Tucker might be bouncy like Leo. And Leo is challenged to respond to a consistent dose.

Not all cats show hypo symptoms. If Leo has a small hypo, then no symptoms. He has to drop real deep for any external symptoms. Mostly loud meowing, and one time I saw his legs shaking. Scared the heck out of me.

What you are likely seeing is Tucker breaking glucose toxicity. When that happens, you often see fast downward movement in dose.

If anyone can take a look at his spreadsheet, it looks like he has done another late nadir. It's only 2.5 hours from the PM test, but I'm going to intervene and give him some food. +8 was 5.2 and +10 was 2.5

Tucker like to drop in a late nadir every so often to keep you on your toes!:D
You have +10 on the SS as 52 (2.9) and above you said +10 was 2.5(45)

Sorry, it was +7 5.2 and +10 2.9. I have given him some FF 2.5 before the PM test, and I might just stall his dinner by half an hour to give him a bit more buffer. I'll also decrease him to 2.75 tonight.

So his PMPS was 6.2, and we reduced his insulin to 2.75. At +3 he is 5.0.
I gave him a can of FF low carb, so that I could get some sleep and feel he was safe. At +7 he was 4.8.
