We escaped the cold weather just in the nick of time!!! Had to change our route to avoid the ice/snow storms headed for the east coast....rolled out the way down I-75 - traffic heavier but no ice/snow to deal with. Scary drive thru the mountains - heavy fog and rain - better the 2nd day - quite difficult to test Luci while we were underway but I got it done a few times! Tampa traffic was horrific...worst we'd seen the entire trip...

Luci was eating very well this trip!! Everything I offered she gobbled up! :) That's my girl...all about the food!

She's already parked on the Lanai this morning - enjoying being 'outdoors'...

Hope everyone is safe/dry and warm today in the areas affected by that storm..too early for this kind of weather!

Tampa is always the worst, I DONT ever go there for any reason

Glad everyone made it safely. How long will you be there?

We have about 7 +" snow. It's very deceiving though. Because of the leaves blowing off trees yesterday and laying on top of snow. It only looks like a dusting out there.

Six months - we're 'official Snowbirds' :) We come for the entire winter. I'm not a fan of the cold anymore....the snow is pretty...but it's too brutal...Luci likes the Florida warmth too :)

I can certainly understand that...what a traffic nightmare! Next time we're going to have to plan it a bit better - maybe go thru there at ...hmmm...well what day/time is better? Maybe the weekend? Middle of the day? ha...what a mess that was!!

LOL, as a fellow Floridian.... I'm sorry :) Traffic here has gotten worse to put it mildly. I don't head to Tampa much either for the same reason. Your best bet for getting around is to avoid from about 7am-10am and 3:30-7pm weekdays. Weekends are much better. The selmon expressway and veterans can be better then 275 but again, northbound veterans at 5pm is a toll road parking lot but southbound is smooth sailing. You must have timed Orlando good since I-4 can be miserable as well.

Hope you enjoy the weather, we know the snowbirds(the ones in shorts when all us yokels have jeans and a coat on:cool:)

We came straight down I-75 past Gainesville...never went near Orlando - we did that last year - what a mess Orlando is too...the traffic here is going to require some serious intervention isn't it? Seems like the roads are nice - but not nearly large enough around those metro areas - I know that what everyone just loves to see those tax dollars going for...Atlanta has really made good progress with their HOV/Express lane. First time we've ever made it across Atlanta was this time - in the HOV (toll) lane - it was worth every penny! 15 minutes from the north end to the south - without a single slow down or snarl...at the end of rush hour - we saw lots and lots of traffic backed up down on the x-ray but the HOV/Express just flew by...yeah for that innovative solution to major traffic problems...I can only hope that perhaps Florida is working on same kind of thing - I'd happily pay the tolls to avoid those headaches again :)

I really don’t think anytime of the day is better

I hate to admit it, but I wear my flipflops all the time, everywhere here...my toes are happier!

And just so you know some of those fools wear shorts up North too! I see them out there when the SNOW if flying; the wind is whipping...these guys (mostly)...are wearing SHORTS! I have to wonder if they perhaps don't have any clothes? Die hards? Just can't bring themselves to dress for the weather...but I know exactly what you mean...It's funny to see what people are wearing - I've seen some of the ladies wearing boots, scarves and leather jackets here - which I think is a bit much when it's 59 degrees - headed for 79...whatever are they going to do in a few hours? Peel off that off I suppose...I'd burn up...just a light jacket and the ever popular flipflops :) Love it!!!

It sounds like Lucy doesn't mind the car ride? My 3 kitties HATE it! They yell the entire time. (even the 10 min ride to the vet once in a great while)
Enjoy the "Beautiful weather!

Tampa traffic seems okay when I am there on the weekends... I usually hit the most traffic in Orlando... which between their normal traffic and all the highway construction, is a mess! Glad you avoided that one. LOL.
