Is this okay as a treat?

Organic turkey breast meat - ingredients are turkey, water and 2% or less of salt. It’s the cleanest thing I could find.

Thank you!

I gave some as a treat after seeing your reply. And . . so far they won't touch it. :p

So . . . funny how things change in a week. :p

Three of my four cats have now decided that organic turkey breast is pretty much the best treat EVER! And the 4th cat likes it ok too. :D

The ingredients list on the organic turkey I've been giving as treats has changed. :(

It now says - turkey breast, water, contains less than 2% of the following: sea salt, potato starch, salt, chicken broth, rosemary extract.

Is this still ok? Are these other ingredients at less than 2% safe?

It's probably still fine…...testing will tell you the truth though!

If you give him some and his numbers go up without any other good reason, suspect the turkey

Thank you. I will check that.
I don't like that it has potato starch and rosemary extract even though it's such a small amount. But it's still the turkey with just about the least amount of added ingredients.

Thanks.

When I was researching cat food ingredients, everything I found on rosemary extract said it is okay. It acts as a natural preservative and can actually have some health benefits. It's rosemary essential oil that can be toxic. Now, potato starch, not so much. And why wasn't one kind of salt enough?!

Thanks for the info. My cats seem to be doing fine on the turkey with the new ingredients. I wish it didn't have the potato starch and more than one kind of salt. Why can't companies just leave a good thing alone?
