Hello All, just thought I would check in it's been a very long time.

Marvin is doing great still, he is purring away at the moment. The house is full of boxes, we are moving to Ottawa. I am sure he will not like the actual move, he is terrified of the car rides in general.

It's been well over a year that he is OTJ and that his acromegaly is under control. There has been no health issue, his poo is hard and have to give him lax-a-day on a regular basis, but that could be related to him not moving much or the meds.

I still think it is amazing that he is this well, after all the ups and downs we went through and how the specialist had recommended to put him down. We were so lucky to have you all supporting us @Wendy&Neko I feel really saved his life. Without this support group and Wendy Marvin would not have made it.

I have notice a few posts with other acro kitties trying out carbogoline, would love to know about the successes you have had since Marvin.

Wishing all the best and sending healing vines to all your acro kitties, and any kitties dealing with diabetes. It a tough road, well worth the healing journey.

Hi Nat. Good to hear from you and get a Marvin report. :bighug: I was thinking of you the other day when someone asked how many OTJ cabergoline cats we have had. And I had noted the one year anniversary then. :joyful: And to answer the question, it’s three total. Gizmo and Tiffany too. Unfortunately Gizmo had a stomach tumour. :( Most the other kitties on cabergoline have come down in dose.

Since we have no long term data on cabergoline, it’s good to hear from our pioneer. Do keep an eye on his poos. Unfortunately GI issues are common with Acro due to thickened intestines. I hope it’s just an age/lack of exercise/meds thing with Marvin.

Keep on purring Marvin!

The poop thing has been since he got diabetes, I am sure meds don't help but other than that he is great. His legs only got back to about 80% from the neuropathy, only thing he can't do is jump. His personality is back to his old self since he's been OTJ so real happy with that. :)

I'm glad to hear of this. Olive started cabergoline 38 days ago. Went down a couple of insulin units but now we seem to be going up again.

Did you increase doses of cabergoline while on it? Or is it the same initial dose? Is Marvin still on it and how are his glucoses?

It took me months and new vet to get it. Vet has never used it or treated an acro so we are winging it.

Would love any insights you have.

He is still on it on the same dosage. I have been bad mom have not tested his BG in months.

I was in same situation as you, my vet and I winged it. Wendy was main support and she and I figured it out together. We did not have to change the dosage at all. He takes it orally, I squirt the meds directly in his mouth. It took about 5 months to figure he was Acro, and get the tests done to confirm it. Marvin reacted almost immediately to Cabergoline, I know some other kitty here took a while longer to react to it. We were lucky it went smoothly, well his numbers went down fast, I lost alot of sleep but he did well. Wendy made sure I did well when I was too tired to think :) We got so much support from everyone here it was great.

I hope that Olive does well on it too, be patient and consistent with times for meds and meals.

Are you in Montreal?

Thanks. Olive initial dose, vet based on an old weight so It was to low. When it kicked in she got a few reductions back to back. Now she is on the dose she should be for her weight. But also seem to be needing increased insulin again. Behaviour wise she is much better. I hope it works for Olive as well as it did for you.

I'm in the States, Pennsylvania.
