Ooo. Blue tonight!

cc just surprised me with a blue 128 at +3. Whoohoo. I gave her a bit of her reg food since it's so early in the cycle and will test in an hour.

She went for a blood test for IAA yesterday so I’ll get those results. If it’s negative I’ll have them do the acro test. They only charged $69 for the IAA test but said the acro test was like $290. Yikes.

Well anyway, crossing fingers for a blue future.

As usual it's short lived with a high bounce (486) this morning, but it sure was nice yesterday. Ha

:cool::cool: Go CC! Hoping the test comes back to give you some good info to help CC. As for that bounce...well...it happens.

No dosing advice from me, but this is exciting!
lol right? Can't she be exciting this weekend when I'm home? I thought it was interesting that her numbers didn't go up even after eating a can of food. I told her do 7 instead of 9.5 and I'll be home in 2 hours to check her. hope I did the right thing and I'm not up all night.

I have no experience at all with high doses but a 25% reduction seems like a reasonable choice. Good luck! I hope you get some sleep tonight :nailbiting:

I'm sorry Janet! Traffic sucked today and I was late getting home. I think your reduction was fine. I'll be interested to see what happens!

If i didn’t have work tomorrow I would have told her to shoot 8, but since it held low even after 45 min after eating I was nervous it might be too much. Didn't want to be up all night. I'll get a+4 and see where she is. I just got home an hour and a half after the shot it did go up but the insulin hasn't really kicked in yet.

Must be those good luck strips?? :D:p:joyful:

She's looking good tonight! And so far not being too dramatic. Hopefully she'll stay steady for you and you can get some sleep.

She usually peaks â around +5 so she's still got some drop time, but looking good

Sorry no one was around earlier when you were tagging. FWIW, I think you made a good call on the reduction for tonight since she's in unusual territory. And great job steering with the LC food.

She did a great job last night!
she did! There was a bit of steering and she may have gone lower but I was EXHAUSTED... so I just left out a little food. so if I see that number again I may do 6.75 or 6.5 but it was good! Such a relief to see healing numbers. of course again no surprise she zoomed back up this morning. I have off on Thursday-Sunday this week (whoo hoo!) so that will be great to see if she can get down again!

Just got an 81 @+4. I thought my sample must have been too small so I retested and it was 88. Was 400 four hours ago so that’s some big drop. Now gotta get that preshots down.

Hmmm...i would think so since you had the test done just before the good numbers started showing up, but I really don't know much about those.

Definitely. But if it was IAA it would still show in the test results, no?
While Lou was diagnosed with IAA, I don't feel like any type of expert because Lou's case was weird overall. However, I do believe it would still show positive because the auto antibodies are still in his system. We had him tested for both acro and IAA (I cannot believe what they're charging you for them!) after he had finally started showing some greens. In his case, the vet suggested the acro testing and I requested the IAA test (thankfully!). He was positive at 84%, which would be considered high/extreme insulin resistance. Oddly enough, he never went above 4 units, so that's just weird compared to other IAA-only kitties I've seen. It's still good to know why I randomly see weird numbers as those antibodies die off.

Interesting.... That's helpful, ty

Just catching up. Don't know how I missed this post with all those exciting blues and GREENS! If I were a betting woman, I'd say the IAA test may come back positive because this is exactly what Menace did to me. Surprise great numbers and then back up. The good news is the number of surprise better readings increased with time. Got my fingers crossed for you and C.C. !:D

First great morning preshots in a long time. !! 258. Of course the problem now is no one is going to be home during the day so what the heck do we give her. Lol. Similar preshot in the evening last week and 7 seemed to be good .... I’ll stall 20 min and see if it’s going up before making a final decision.

Went with 9 since she was going up. I’ll leave out extra food just in case. I just caught her in some contraband. :/ sneaky thing pretends she can’t walk well but managed to get her fat butt on the table to steal some kibble (I closed it now). It’s Epigen 90 so still under 10 carb but still a no no for her.

You just closed the bag? I could never leave a bag of kibble out in plain sight. Had to put it in a metal container. Otherwise my extra sweet little lady would chew her way into the bag! :banghead::rolleyes:

So the vet texted me.... IAA test was negative. Next step we can test for acro.

She said she was just at a conference where they said more cats are testing positive for acro without physical signs. (No kidding.... I told her that three weeks ago... Lol) I'm glad to hear she's going to conferences about it though! Tells me she's trying to keep up to date.
