Or, River and the Amazing Technicolor Spreadsheet

Here's yesterday's thread…

Well, today's been a roller coaster.
  • AMPS 408 (the highest I've seen, even higher than when she was diagnosed)
  • +1 413 (I checked again shortly after because I had to show the sitter how I prick her ear)
  • +3 316
  • +6 231
  • +9 346
River is absolutely fine today — still hungry AF but so sweet and with such great energy (borderline schizo, actually, but in a cute way). She met her pet sitters who are coming to watch her on Monday and Tuesday and was a little cuddle bug!

No ketones. I checked this morning.

@Carol & Murphy wonders if this morning's red numbers have something to do with increasing her dose yesterday to 1.25. I do not intend to make any changes to her dosage and will continue to monitor her through this evening and tonight.

Somebody say something encouraging?

Blah. TR, I think. My eyes go all hazy when I try to read both of those, but I’m down to be aggressive so I think TR is what I’m doing.

I'd guess that the fast drop last night from 221 to 120 in 2 hours set off a heck of a bounce

Bounces happen for 3 reasons

1. they drop too low
2. they drop too quickly
3. they drop into numbers their body isn't used to anymore

Or any combination of the 3!!

With that fast drop last night, plus her body not being comfortable in the lower 100's, she hit the trampoline!!

You could be seeing a bit of NDW (new dose wonkiness) with that AMPS.

Many cats will occasionally react to an increased dose with increased BGs - within the first 2 to 3 days after an increase, usually lasting for less than 24 hours. Nobody really knows what the reason for this phenomenon is (perhaps a "panicky liver"?) - hold the dose and ignore the fluctuations.

Paige - I'm so sorry if I wasn't clear when you texted me. I said that the red numbers were probably due to dropping 100 points in two hours Friday night (bounce) - I didn't even know you had increased the dose. Your pet sitter got it down?

Sorry, I'm sure I just conflated the two. You were perfectly clear. I hope the sitter has it down, yes.
