Hi All,
I hadn't realized how long it had been since I posted. It's been a busy couple of weeks. Lots of new duties added to me at work and my dad and stepmom came for a visit.

Scooter got another reducie on Wednesday. He seems to be doing well with it. He's down to 5.5 units, he's not a high dose kitty anymore!

My most exciting thing to happen is Toby (civvie) is finally eating wet food!!! I started trying to change him over right after Scooter was diagnosed and I changed him to wet. Toby wanted no part of wet. I intended to change them both to the same food to make things simple. Toby still doesn't like Scooter's LC, but he does like the FF Gravy Lovers that I use for MC for Scooter. At least when I open a can and give Scooter a few tsps. Toby will eat the rest instead of throwing the rest away.

Had to share a pic of GD pushing Toby in her stroller. He is the most tolerant cat with a baby I have ever seen.

Nice numbers for Scooter and congrats on the reducie!

The photo of GD and Scooter is adorable!

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers is HC food I do believe, or at least it used to be. Usually, anything with Gravy in the label title is HC.

Thanks Bobbie!
I just rechecked Dr Lisa’s list. The FF Gravy Lovers Chicken is 15% carbs. I think this is the high end of MC??? Any how it works well for Scooter when he needs a boost. It brings him up, but not too much. I think it’s ok for Toby with him not being a sugar kitty???

Hiya Jill! Congratulations on the reduction! Such exciting times, and Scooter's cycle today is absolutely gorgeous! I absolutely LOVE that picture! Reminds me of my cat Joker that we had when my sister and I were younger. He would let us dress him in doll clothes (including a bonnet), and push him around in strollers or (my fav) a plastic play shopping cart. Gosh he was such a good kitty. Tolerated adults, but he absolutely LOVED kids. :joyful: Thank you so much for helping me bring back his memory, even for a short while. I miss him dearly, even though he's been gone for 25 years or so.

Thanks Amanda! Joker sounds like quite a cat! I’m surprised Toby likes the kids so much as ours were grown and gone when we got him. We have a great niece who is 10 and Toby absolutely adores her. He loves the stroller and lays in it any chance he gets. No one has tried to dress him up yet. I’m not sure what he would think of that. :)

Just to clarify, Scooter may still have a high dose condition cause he got over 9 units. He was just never tested for what have been called high dose conditions. Going below six units doesn’t make any high dose condition go away. For most of Neko’s time as a diabetic, she was under three units, but she still had high dose conditions, just the name high dose is misleading. We have one IAA kitty here who didn’t get over four units and acros also on small doses.

I am glad Scooters dose is coming down and he’s so well regulated.

I will try to get Toby on something lower carb. It’s only taken me 9 mths to get him on any wet.
It is a hard task, I know. Maybe you could start off with putting a bit of MC into the HC and each meal putting in less HC and a bit more MC until you have all the HC gone. Cats are so finicky and maybe that will help to make the transition a bit easier. The plus side is if Scooter gets into Toby's food it won't be as bad as if it were 15% carb.

Thanks for the clarification Wendy. I have suspected IAA for Scooter, but haven’t been able to afford to get him tested. I started making progress with his numbers when I changed to TR. On SLGS he would come down some then go up before it was time to increase. On TR I was increasing fast enough to get ahead of the antibodies. That’s my theory anyhow!

Yes, my original thought was that if they ate the same food it wouldn’t matter if Scooter got into it. I will start adding some of Scooter’s to Toby’s. I just wanted to give him a week or so to get real used to no kibble, since he’s been so difficult. Thankfully Scooter was very easy to get off kibble. I just gave him the LC wet and he ate it.
