Absolutely. As long as you have everything you need, I personally would shoot. I looked back and the last time you shot a green was when he was on 1.0u insulin, but he coasted so beautifully in greens. I hope Ravan stays safe for you today!

@Amanda and a Loudogg

I've been giving a spoon of Med carb FF at each shot (I thought it was Low carb :oops:) I wonder what the bg would have been if I had given Low carb?

Have had several nights with very little sleep. I'm Loving his #'s but I'm thinking of reducing to .5 dose so I can get some sleep. Will I really mess up this momentum?

That has to be up to you. He’s really starting to look good on this dose and it’s possible he will bounce a bit after so long in nice numbers.

It’s hard to answer the question “will I really mess up this momentum” because that puts you in the predicament, if I say “likely”, of staying up when you are tired which is not good for you. If he isn’t bouncing by shot time, you could shoot a reduced dose for this cycle but keep in mind that it might or might not result in higher numbers because it will likely play out as it would have if you shot the full 0.75u dose. You can also skip if you need to sleep and then shoot 0.75u tomorrow again and start the cycle count over.

Can you stall without feeding 20-30 minutes and see if Ravan's BG is coming up on it's own? Also, will you be home to monitor today?
Just as a note: for an experienced member whose been here a while and has shot green, stalling is not a good option.

Stalling is to help new members learn to shoot greens but for someone whose been a member a while and has data, it’s better to shoot the numbers above 50 on time and then feed a solid meal to get the BG to rise. Stalling can result in the numbers continuing to drop to the point where the BG is no longer shootable and has to be skipped. That doesn’t really benefit the kitty.

If the CG is sick, fatigued, or otherwise unable to monitor like they would need to if the BG stays lower, then they should skip or shoot a reduced dose (both options will still require monitoring, though, as the depot might cause continued lower numbers).

@Marje and Gracie
When you say skip,do you mean no insulin. I wouldn't want to do that if it's going to raise his bg way up again.
Yes, that’s what I mean. It will affect his momentum less than reducing his dose to 0.5u as the new “permanent” dose (as opposed to a one-time reduced dose). With a skipped shot, the depot can usually tide them over a bit (sometimes you don’t even notice the shot has been skipped) and then when you resume with the regular, full dose, they “typically” look pretty good again within a cycle or two.

But if you give him a dose reduction when he hasn’t earned it, you’re likely to see higher numbers until take the dose back up. The one caveat to that is when we see the cat hovering around 50 all day, or in the 40s for a long term diabetic, with the CG working hard with HC to keep the numbers up. In that case, it’s probably a good idea to reduce but, even with feeding him MC today, you kept him surfing in the 60s.

I'm going to shoot his regular dose. I've been waiting to see #'s like this for a long while. I hope it continues. I'll do what I've been doing, squeeze in sleep between tests!:)
Thank You for the information.
Personally, that’s what I would do if he were mine and just try to catch the sleep in between tests. He’s headed up so he might bounce or this dose might be great for him and he might see good numbers again tonight.

If, at any time, it just starts to get too much, you can always switch to SLGS.
