Tested today he was 55 or 3.1. He gets 4 meals a day I have kept him on ff pate. He has also been started on restoralax a week ago. Seems to have helped so as long as he dosent get diahreah then I will leave him on it. Proud to say he is acting like a kitten again, running and playing with his toys and his civvie. Although their favorite time for playing is 3am but I don't care anymore I'm just glad he's better so go for it play when you want.
I have slowly increased his food a bit cause he's always hungry lol
Since boo my little doggie has passed I have been able to leave food down for them right before I go to bed. They don't scarf food down they pick at it through out the night
I will update again at another time

Great to see Garfie doing well, however I would NOT increase his food as weight gain is not good for diabeticcats. Remember, garfie is still diabetic, and for that reason we suggest keeping the same routine and limit stress of any type. You can feed the same amount, just spread it out if you like. As for the Restoralax, you don’t want to go a dose so that it causes diarrhea....you adjust the dose to the poop is still solid, but soft. If it’s looses the the dose it too muc and reduce it. Harley is just over 8 lbs and he gets 1/4 tsp twice a day mixed with food. I doubled his dose as his poop was harder and diffiyto pass. The darker the poop the longer it remains in the colon, and you don’t want that. There’s no magic dose, as with insulin ECID and if Garfie needs some help then it’s safe to give, just don’t go too much.

Good luck!

His poop this morning was finally normal no more dark color gonna give dose tonight then see how he does. He seems like he's hungry more. I only increased his food a small amount he usually gets half a can at meals I added an extra sliver and that seemed to help I won't increase it anymore. This is his food schedule
Breakfast half can
Before I leave for work I leave quarter can down he's not a gobbler so I know it will last him all day.
Supper half can
Bedtime snack half can
Before I go to bed quarter can not a gobbler so it will last through the night
He seems to be better and not as hungry. Hopefully this ain't to much

Rebecca, you might try what I do for Idjit. He loves his wet food, so getting him off dry was no problem. But, he wants to eat so often and I don't want him getting too heavy again.
I thought that perhaps he didn't feel full enough on the canned food, cause I do water it down or add chicken bone broth. I started baking and/or pressure cooking chicken breast meat. I sliced and froze it and he gets a cut up chunk daily, either with his canned food or alone. The bulk seems to satisfy him better, he's getting more protein without any additives, and he seems altogether happier. Sometimes I don't cut it up, just give him a chunk and let him happily gnaw away at it. I think he thinks he is a mighty jungle cat with his prey!
Cooking it in bulk, and having a good supply in the freezer, then just zapping it in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds to thaw it saves me time.

He does love chicken thanks for the info if what I'm doing dosent work any longer then I will try that. Just don't want to screw him up in anyway.
