? HELP Yemala 10/22 AMPS 230; +4 47*; +5 42*; +6 57; +7 90; +8 103; +11 183; +PMPS 217; +2 133; +5 84

...Or is she? (she's having a big noisy post-prandial snarf now, in view of the big drop, there)(and don't I just predict a most bodacious bounce in the not-too-distant future). Second test on second meter immediately after snack sez 51.

We need some eyes on Mala's chart.

For background info, we've been struggling with insanely high numbers as recently as 3 cycles ago (Saturday day). We increased her dose to 1 u with her PM shot on Saturday, and have been feeding lc food as she coasts through blues and greens.

Now she's throwing off a 47 at +4. Her nadirs are between +6 and +8, so she has a ways to go. we will feed her through this, and Dave is at home today to look after her.

Here's the main problem - Mala doesn't like and won't willingly eat medium carb food. Gravy won't cut it, she doesn't like meal lumps in gravy and only force feeding her that stuff would work. We have to watch her phosphate intake as well, but to bring bgs up, we could ignore that for a cycle.

Once she's through this, though, what's next? Is the increase to 1 u too much? Should be drop it back again?

Please let us know.

42 at +5. Slid her a teaspoon of medium-carb Nature's Recipe paté. There was a cordial nomming.

Hoping that some eyes can get to your post soon.
Hang in there; I'm too new to know much right now.
Honey! ...there is always honey to bring them up.
XOXO

There will be a caregiver gap of appx. 2 hours this afternoon. I may be able to get my son to take a +7, if he's home.

We're watching and feeding carefully.

Wow, now that is a drop. She has earned an immediate reduction back to .75 units.

She can really bounce up when she wants.

Do you have any honey or syrup you can stir into the food she likes? Or try flour if no syrup.

I see she is going up, so I would get a +7 if you can to make sure she isn't dropping again.

Those +500 numbers on Saturday really had us worried.

Yep they are worrisome, but to me bounce numbers are not quite the same as unregulated diabetes high numbers. You know she has some insulin in her system it is just her liver getting panicky and trying to keep her safe.

So yes, back down to .75 units. Hopefully she doesn't bounce too much, you are feeding the curve well today. I would stop giving snacks around the +9 mark and see how much she comes up for the PMPS.

Yemala really has a flair for the dramatic. That was some drop today.
I hope this bounce is shorter and not as high as the others.

I had never seen this recommended before. How does the flour compare to the syrup? Would it be high carb?

My vet suggested using rice flour vs. honey/syrup since Jones' IBD is so sensitive. I never had to try it...so I don't know. Sugary type ingredient would be better as it is easier to absorb....most gravies though have some type of flour in them. I use potato flour to make my gravy.

Her onset number tonight is 133. Not alarming at all.

Mala is back to eating lc food. She's impossible to live with if she doesn't get food after an ear stick.
