It has been a rough few weeks but Kylee is doing good I think. I am grateful I can be home with her and watch he BS. She hates the testing but I don't blame her. But she is better than she was two weeks ago. I take a small muslin bag of rice, heat in the micro and warm my hands and massage her ears. She liked that. it seems I end up testing the right ear a lot.
I picked up her supplies of testing strips. ReliOn. One box of 20 was $7.00 us. A box of 50 was $19.96. So thought getting 3 boxes of 20 made more sense. So I am stocked up for awhile. I still have lots of lancets.
Just wanted to check in and give the tip on the warmed rice bag. The small bag comes free with my Red Apple Lipstick order if any of you are familiar with that company and the cute little bags.
Have a good week everyone.
Could someone confirm that my SS link is working. Thank you.

Yes, it's working, although you don't have a complete date in today's date column.

Do you realize you're using the "world" spreadsheet instead of the one designed for US members? It's not that big a deal but there have been some problems with the world one not working right lately.

I end up testing the right ear a lot.

It's not uncommon for one ear to bleed better than the other. China's left ear is her bleeder.....I'd have better luck getting blood from a turnip than trying to get it out of her right ear.

Make sure you apply a little pressure after each poke to help prevent bruising and a little bit of Neosporin with pain relief ointment (not cream!) can help heal them up quickly.

Now that you're getting better (and more comfortable) at testing, please make sure you always test before each shot....As you saw yesterday morning (with that 84), you need to make sure they're high enough to have insulin before you give it.

Then try to get at least 1 test mid-cycle on the AM cycle (around +5 to +7) and a "before bed" test on the PM cycle. Most cats go lower at night, so it really is important

Nice update and so glad that you are getting the hang of the testing thing. Sounds like you are stocked up really well. I used to panic when I was down to 100 strips, LOL.

@Chris & China , when I click on the SS, it says it's the US , how ever, the numbers are off for the greens. The first set of greens should be dark green from 50-99 then the lime green which should be < 50 is missing.

@Marje and Gracie helped me get my SS straightened out - my colors at the top were missing completely - but the fill (when I'd put in the BG numbers was correct)...I'm tagging Marje here in hopes that she'll see and can help you get your SS working correctly.

Also, you may want to post every morning like this - the date / cat name / AMPS number value - so that everyone can see at a glance how things are starting off. So your post today would look like this: 10/10 / Kylee /AMPS/ 163 - just a suggestion so we can watch for your updates :)

You're doing a great job with your testing! Love the rice filled muslin sack - I use a rice filled baby sock - Luci seems to love them! I even use it to massage her back a bit before starting on her ear...saved my fingers too :)

Have a great day!
