Shaving for shots?

My vet shaved a small area between Sammy's shoulder blades to make it easier to give him his insulin - my vision isn't great, and the fur on his back is mostly skin colored. I have found it helpful, but his fur is growing back. Is there a quiet little pet shaver out there, or does anyone have suggestions on the best way to do this? It's a big deal to get to the vet's, so I'd like to manage this from home. Thanks!

There are a bunch of small, quiet trimmers on Amazon but after awhile, you should start to develop a "feel" for it....I can tell when the needle pierces China's skin without seeing it.

Thank you, and I can see that doing it by feel will come. I'm just paranoid about furshots in the meantime! I will try one of those small trimmers for now.
