Ok, Taco is getting on my last nerve :mad:, I love him so much, but, he's not eating, and is it ok that I gave him his AM shot without food in his belly, I did get his mother up to see if she could get him to eat and she got him to drink all the water I put in his food, which is 1 can of water to 1 can of food.
NOW, I spoke too soon on the new syringes and they totally suck!!:banghead: At this point I'd like to go back to the BDs when he gets his increase tomorrow AM, I'll just have to check carefully for that dead space, thoughts, PLEASE AND THANK YOU, Can you tell I'm totally annoyed:nailbiting:
 
Syringes vary and can be frustrating. That’s why I started using digital calipers. I also would get bubbles and gave up trying to get rid of them all. Even the starting line was off with the best of them that I used and were discontinued.
 
If the markings on the syringes are really bugging you I think you would feel happier with the calipers, as Elise suggested.

That's quite a lot of water in his food, BFG also gets quite a bit of water, not dissimilar to Taco, but very occasionally when he is being fussy (not often), he will only eat it if I put less water in with the food.

Sometimes it helps me to get Pretty Girl to eat by pouring the food in a different dish and stirring it around, pour off some of the water and stir some more and make it seem like it's "new" food.

This is what I need to do also. The syringes are driving me bonkers!!! :banghead::eek:

He's been eating it that way for over 1 year, he wont drink out of a water dish ever since I started doing it that way at theinsistance of a group member on FB before I came here. :( I've tried cutting it back , but, he wont eat it :( Do you think thats too much water?

About the calipers, my husband just told me , he knows how to use them as that is what he uses to do reloads on bullets, I had no idea, but, I need to show him how you all do it and I cant remember where to find it on here,I may need to go that route because , YES! these syringes all almost 1000 now are driving me CRAZY, and I think it's effecting Taco's doses.

Believe me tried it ALL, I had to get his mother, my daughter up to lap up the juice, but, he did it. She has to scratch back almost to his tail continuously for him to eat. What a Jack wagon :arghh:

Bobbie, I just now saw your mention of calipers on one of my condos , can you direct me to intructions, any youtubes? The syringes are driving me crazy, Please :)

Anywhere I can find instructions on the calipers, I've asked a couple members, but, If someone is free to answer on the calipers , I can get my lessons in with my husband that uses them for another purpose, but, I want to make sure we are doing this right :) Appreciate it, Thanks :)
 
Thank you so much :) Now do I stick with one kind of needle? and if so? can I go back using the BDs in the AM when he gets his increase to 2.50 ?
 
Stuck with one brand of syringes.

Calipers. When closed make sure you zero it out. Have setting on mm. Find syringe where zero line is accurate, might have to compare a few.

Pull up one unit, some times colored water helps.

Measure with the calipers between zero and one. Note down the reading.

Use the dose you want to give (ex: 1.25 units) multiply that with the reading of the calipers of 1 unit. The new number you get is what you set the calipers to. So close calipers, zero out again and then open to new number, lock it in with the knob.

Anytime you change dose or brand, new box you need to redo calculation.
 
Can I prefill Tacos syringe 10 hours before next shot ? Trying to work something out where only one person does syringes .Thanks :)

Remember with TR we reassess the dose every 6 cycles
The questions to ask yourself is:
Have Taco's nadirs been in the normal range? 50-80 (human meter)

Now as he has had nadirs in the mid to high blue TR protocol says

Increasing the dose:
  • Hold the dose for 3 - 5 days (6 - 10 consecutive cycles) if nadirs are less than 200 before increasing the dose by 0.25 unit.
    • if your cat is new to numbers under 200, it is recommended to hold the dose for at least 8-10 cycles before increasing.
    • when your cat starts to see nadirs under 100, hold the dose for at least 10 cycles before increasing.
So how do we decide whether to hold him a little longer or up the dose. Well we look at the data, are there any suspicious numbers, where gaps in the data may be hiding a low, in Taco's case with the fab job you and team Taco do, there are no gaps, so this helps a lot. Tacco isn't exactly new to blue he's seen plenty of it, and those blues are mid to high.

Now this is cycle 6 and the proof of the pudding will be in the eating, you may not have seen the full effect of the dose yet, with Lev we would expect him to have a late nadir so you may not know till around about shot time, or even a little after. It wouldn't surprise me to see him go to low blue or green later in the cycle. If he is blue or green at amps I would hold the dose for one more cycle to see how it plays out. Just in case he is having a really late nadir with the Lev (they can nadir after +12).
However if he is yellow, or if he is blue but is clearly rising, eg he's dropped to 110 at +9 say and amps is 180, then I would go ahead with the planned increase, provided you haven't seen any green on this cycle. If you see him get to green, then I would also hold the dose, especially if those greens are lowish greens.
