@Gill & George so Booger is looking good this morning. 249 AMPS. I think you were right about holding the 2 units for a little longer. Still am having trouble catching him in the litter box to check for ketones. I know that checking his breath is not a sure fire way of checking for them but I have been doing that. He just has not been himself but thats been going on a while. There was a point when he was on Vetsulin where he was like his old self that I hadn't seen in a long time. Playing with others, antagonizing them to get them to play with him, running around and playing with toys. But that was short lived. I had to take him to the vet for a fructosamine test and he gets really stressed in the car. They took him back to draw blood or whatever they needed to do while I was left up front. I did not like that at all. He was back there a good 20 minutes with the vet. I am not sure at all what was happening but I can tell you he was not the same once we got back home. Anywho, the Booger I have known for so long is just laid back and lays around. So that's pretty much been him lately. Hoping to see some changes in his mood soon.

Liking this sunny start, it appears he's been dropping steadily through the night, so I'm hoping we'll see him slide further.
I'd try to get a +2or +3. And take it from there.

As the depot fills with Lantus you will see where the dose takes them. That's why, on TR, we usually hold the starting dose for at least 5days. And subsequent dose increases 6cycles. It gives us time to see what the dose will do when it's working to its full effect
If we rush things we can get into a pickle and find ourselves fighting a hypo.

Is there anyway you can explain this "depot" in better terms? I mean I read the sticky on it but it's not making quite sense to me. I am not sure I am understanding it correctly. I mean it is like as he gets insulin it creates like this pocket and releases slowly in to the blood stream as the body needs it and there is usually some left over after 12 hours which is what makes the depot is the left over insulin???

I'll get back to you on this. I have to go grab a shower and then head out to yoga.

I had trouble catching urine so I bought a meter that tests ketones in the blood. The strips are pricey, but it's much easier.
