How long do you give a reduction before it is considered a fail reducie? Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying being able to breath a bit easier with these numbers but I also don't want to go backwards and don't want any insulin resistance to set in.

My original plan was to hold this dose till 09/26 PM and increase him by an 1/8U. That has seemed to work the past couple of times but it also tends to be a fine line. I also have to take into consideration the epogen shot on Friday PM.
 
I have no idea how to answer your question, Lizzie, but I'll be interested to hear how those with more experience do! :-) I'm just glad to see Gizmo in reliably safe blues... be good now, Gizmo! :cool:

The easiest way to spot a failed reduction vs still in bounce mode is that a failed reduction goes straight upwards in numbers where as a bounce wobbles back and forth.

Today was the 4th cycle of the reduction. It appears he is trending steadily upwards. Maybe give it through tonight with this dose and decide. If you gave him an increase consider it's 4 -6 cycles for the depot to fill back again. You have to consider your work schedule and inability to monitor through the day. If it were me, I'd increase the 1/8 unit just to keep him in lower blues and not have any resistance set in.
 
I just wanted to add, there is no time period to give a failed reduction. If those numbers are trending straight up you can go right back up. That's where it can get confusing for us as we have always given a bounce 6 cycles to clear. But, if you consider the straight upward numbers vs. wobbling back and forth, it will help you to know when you should think failed reduction.

Thank you. I was encouraged this morning with his +11 and PS number and was hopeful but the +1.5 and tonihhts PS were disappointing. I am going to give it a full 6 cycles (unless he hits yellows) and stick with my plan to increase 1/8U tomorrow night unless he reslly works the dose tonight or PS tomorrow AM looks better than tonights.
