One of the really good things about including a link to your previous post is that you can recall what you were thinking, even if you haven't posted in a while.

Last week I was thinking there were no signs of constipation, but I was wrong. Looking back, there was a problem building... Rose has had 2 "procedures" over the last 2 days and I think we have resolved the problem.

I'm still watching her food because she has slowed down on eating. This is a new thing for her so I'm worried. It is hard to know if there is something wrong or if it just the constipation making her feel "full". Like so many others, I wish they could talk. If she could just tell me what is wrong, I would know better how to help her.

Sending prayers every day for the kitties and beans in need.

Do you have any idea why Rosie gets constipated frequently? Is there something in her food that is causing issues? Or can you add something to prevent constipation from even starting? Or is it just her "normal"??

I think it is the new normal. I may have made it worse when I transitioned her to RadCat, but I got the tip from @Bronx's dad to mix FF with RC 50/50 and that seemed to help. One of my vets wanted to put her on a high fiber diet and have me increase the insulin to compensate, but I didn't do that. Rose also has CKD so hydration is an issue. She started getting daily fluids for constipation, but has continued because of CKD. Because of CKD, she has aluminum hydroxide in all her food (which can have a constipating effect), so that might be part of it too.

Rose was on Cisipride and I think that helped, but I found it to be uneven in terms of effectiveness. She is now on pilocarpine which had a significant effect initially, but may not be working as well now. She is also getting routine / daily probiotic, lactulose, and miralax. I have tried natural moves, but she won't eat it.

I have used pumpkin in the past, but my vet cautioned this creates bulk and may be counter productive. I'm open to suggestions because I don't want to do enemas on a routine basis. I don't mind doing them, but I can see they are hard on her. I now know where the expression "pooped out" comes from.

When I get desperate with Bronx not going for way too long, I increase the Lactulose. Rather he have a wet movement that no movement...
Yes, I do the same. She gets 1.5ml normally 2x each day, but I go up to 2ml when there seems to be a problem. 3ml has proven to generate unbelievable gas in the past.
