Help!

Ninja seems to really want to go down this evening. I’m not sure if we gave too much insulin this evening given how low he was? His +2 is green (yay!) but it’s only +2, so we have a whole night ahead of us. Should I give him some HC food? What do I do?

Also - what do I do tomorrow morning if he’s still low when I have to give the next shot and leave for work?

Congrats on your first green! I'd test at +4 to see if he's stable (AKA, not going down too much further). Can you test at +6, or is that too late?

If he's still at 85'ish at +4, you could give him some HC treats if you want. It can get hairy when you get that first green, but you'll learn how your cat reacts at these levels...

EDIT TO NOTE: I am not a veterinarian, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. So, proceed with caution!
 
This looks like it's going to be an active cycle. It can help to get them to surf if you feed a tsp or two of low carb food now. Don't overfeed, you want him to be hungry later in case you need to get him higher. I would test at +3, waiting to +4 is too late.

As for dose tomorrow, it's too early to tell. Depends what he does tonight. It's also hard to tell what to do with dose because you haven't been consistent.

Thank you! I’m nervous, but trying to tell myself that green is what we want! :)

I can set an alarm to see what the numbers look like at +6, for sure.

He just nibbled a bit on his normal food. About to test his +3.

The reason for the lower doses in the AM, is if he did go low like this, I’d have to give him HC food and leave, while hoping for the best and being worried about him. I’m wondering we need to lower the dose overall, since we do have to adjust it so much from the looks of it?
 
If all he has eaten is low carb, I might get a +4, and if it's the same or higher you can go to sleep.

I would lower the dose to 1.25 units, cause he earned a reduction with that 85. It's more than likely the 1.5 unit depot giving you these numbers. Also, with that reduction, I hope that you can find a dose you can shoot all the time.

What’s the number that earns the dose decrease? I’m just worried, since we didn’t really see an improvement on 1.25 last time. But I agree, we need a consistent dose.
 
Below 90 on SLGS earns a reduction.

It's been ages since he last was on 1.25 units. If it happened more than 2 weeks ago, it's not worth considering. Cats have the unique ability for pancreatic healing. Dose needs can change over time and Ninja has been seeing some beta cell healing numbers lately. :D

Yay! I’ll be crossing fingers and toes that maybe we can keep lowering his dose! He has a dental coming up in October, so I’m hoping that’s helps as well :)
