After a night of blues and greens Grandpa is a bit higher this morning as usual. That doesn't worry me so much. He just vomited quite a bit of food, though, and that does worry me. Poor guy.

I'm just going to quietly hang around in Grandpa's house today for my own sanity. Is that okay Grandpa? And Lucy too.
There is only so much you can do for other people.

I just need someone to be realistic and positive, that's why I keep showing up at your back door.
It's not about me.
Your dog and cat photos were great, the same kind of nut-house we live in.

What gorgeous creatures! Looks like the same pic twice with one of the kitties after a salon visit for a hair lightening.

I'm a dog fanatic. Got any others of your pup?

After the pools close around here they have a night where dogs can swim. Tonight is the first of three swim nights. I'm looking forward to it.

I saw something like that on the news, the dogs getting to go for a swim in the pool. What a nice idea and I'm glad you are participating.

More pictures? Is that a trick question?
I have to tell you how we got a dog first. We were in a tiny apartment in Toronto with four old cats and finally decided to be adults and buy a house. In the middle of that our little feral rescue Alvin died so that's not a good time to get another cat. I'm in our vet's office one day, he had a shelter in his waiting room, asking if he knew a good vet where we were moving to. There were four kittens there so I dragged Cynthia there to "see something". She was not too happy because what else could she do but say yes. One of those two kittens is Jacob, the black&white sitting next to the dog Hannah. We move in and within a year the female Zoe is expanding. Is it gas? A tumor? No, they were not fixed so that's how we went from three to five to nine cats. Well before we knew we would keep the kittens I took Cynthia for a drive in the country just to "see something". It was a Border Collie breeder and an hour later we had a puppy sleeping on CJ's lap for the drive home. The cats all loved that dog, as did the neighborhood and she loved all the cats right back.
1 is Nigel, Noah's brother and my GA. 2 is papa Jacob. 3 is brother Simon. 4 is momma Zoe. 5 are brothers Andrew and Nigel. 6, 7, 8 are Hannah, just the smartest and most loyal dog ever. The last is our latest rescue Jordie arriving at the airport with CJ at 5AM

Fabulous pictures. The cats in the baskets, Andrew and Nigel are just precious. What a wonderful family. "To see something" :woot:

Okay, I said earlier I was coming here for some sanity and now I'm hogging bandwidth so this is it.
re Dogs in the pool. In Toronto where it gets scorching hot they know people will climb the fence anyways so they leave outdoor pools open until 3AM but no dogs. In one of the more elite (snobby) neighborhoods the splash pond had to closed and hosed down because, horror or horrors, a dog ran through the water. You mean t he same water little Ashley just sat in with her poopy diaper? This thread is where real life happens so that's why I come here.
You all would have loved my Oma (Dutch for Grandma) who was a realist. This is the church she went to that had a "bring your pet to church" day, big slobbering dogs included. All my girlfriends met Oma before Mommy Dearest. Feet on the coffee table, sanity, no judging. Sigh :)

Hope Grandpa is feeling OK Beck & the old tum has settled a bit so he's kept something down.

I have a pal in Florida whose late doggy would push his fave toy into the pool - then run round the pool , stop & stare, then jump into said pool and retrieve the toy. Then do the whole thing all over again.

Anyway. Hope Grandpa has a good day and you do also Beck.

I hope Grandpa's tummy has settled down. :bighug:
Thanks. He ate dinner and his snack really well. I was thinking I may get some good sleep tonight, but his +4 is already down to 78 on an Alphatrak 2. I don't know why the days stay much higher and each night seems lower than the one before. He just ate about 10 of the rehydrated Stella &Chewy nuggets just about the time I tested him. I think they are quite low carb, so I'l test again in a few minutes.

Any advice?

No advice since I'm new here. Just wanted to say hi and that I might be setting the alarm a few times tonight also. Beta doesn't dip as low as Grandpa, she seems to like to hang around 100 except for last night's green. But she does like her night lows.

I liked grandpa's pic on yesterday's post or was it this morning? It looked like he likes having his picture taken. That dog swim is great. They have that in my town too, but only on the last day the pool is open for the season, probably so they can clean the pool afterwards!!

Dropping earlier and lower tonight than before. We only have one AT strip left. We have PetSure strips, but not sure I trust them. We have switched to the NovaMax human meter, which is giving numbers similar to AT. He is at 52 on the NM. He ate dinner l some of the gravy from a HC can of Friskies and stopped. He ate some HC dry Fancy Feast.

I'd test again in 30 minutes....hopefully he'll slow down (and maybe even come up a little)

Just a piece of advice….I'd really suggest you pick one meter and stick to it. Going back and forth between meters makes it impossible to really know what's going on.

Thanks. We have the AT meter for BG and the Nova Max for ketones. I ordered what I thought was 2 pks of 50 AT strips but what came were 2 AT meters. I initiated a return and a replacement order for strips. They aren't here yet. He has dropped low three nights in a row, depleting my strip supply no matter how conservatively I've used them.

I have done everything I can to stick with the AT including opening one of the meters I bought by mistake and using the strips that come with it.

My only option was to use my ketone meter to check BG or to use third party strips in my AT which other members have found to be up 50mg or more off.

Yeah that's one of the reasons we don't like the AT.....I mean it's a fine meter, but between the cost of the strips and the fact that you can't run to the store for strips if you run low, it's got 2 strikes against it

OK now Grandpa....it's time to come UP now!!

I have 250 or 300 strips on the way. I have 100 AT and 150 or 200 InsulinX ordered.

I am surprised at how close the NovaMax readings are to the AT.

Since he hit the "take action" number, do we reduce tomorrow? By how much?

With a 56 on the AT, I’d reduce his dose tomorrow to 2.25u. It’s also a good idea if, on the SS, you put AT or NM in the cell.

I didn't want to disable the cell colors.

If you need to add extra info in the cell, you can always color-code it yourself ...just put whatever information you want into the cell and then click on the icon along the top and choose the corresponding color

If you need to put 2 numbers in the same cell (like if you get a blue and then a green in the same cell) you choose the color that's the most important (in this case, the green would be more important than the blue)

You can put 78 @ +4 56 @ +4.5 in the +4 cell

Working on fixing it now. He just tested at 96 so I think I'm going to get a little sleep. I can't thank you and Chris enough These nights get a bit stressful.
It was all Chris :) I just reminded you of the reduction...good luck with it, too :D:D

I truly understand about nights like these. Many cats do a nice, simple cha cha. Gracie always went for Salsa :p:rolleyes::smuggrin:

Hope you get some zzzzzz.
