Time for first curve / dosing adjustment?

Good morning! So, Gypsy was diagnosed about a week and a half ago. There have been some dosing hiccups as we got the hang of things, and then she was way early on the 8th, which resulted in her PM shot being at about 13.5 hours. Don't ask--I was stupid :-p Anyway, I am thinking I need to do her first curve on the 15th (lavender cell date on her spreadsheet), which will be one solid week at 1u BID, 12 hours apart. Does that sound about right to y'all, or would you do it sooner? Her AM shot will be in about an hour, but if you look at the last reading on yesterday's row, that was actually around 7 a.m. this morning.
 
Sounds good on the curve date as it gives Gypsy time to get used to the dose. Also, on your SS, put your comments on the right side of the page and leave the area where you do testing for that - makes it easier for others to read your numbers for the day/week/month at a glance. Lantus is given 12 hrs apart and try to stick with that schedule for am & pm shots, give or take depending on situation.

Yep. We're on the 12-hour schedule now. And thanks on the note about notes. D'oh! I never even thought to scroll over, so totally missed that column. :facepalm:
 
Even though it hasn't been a week, @Chris & China? Also, should I do a curve first?

Edit: I just reread the SL, GS page. We'll come down to .75. I kind of hate to do it today because I'm going to be out of town and won't be monitoring her BS, but I agree we need to. Thanks!

If you did reduce Gypsy's dose, could you change the amount on your spreadsheet?

If you aren't going to be home to monitor, it's better to reduce the dose given the drop to 48 yesterday. Even with TR, a drop below 50 warrants a dose reduction. I wouldn't want Gypsy to be in low numbers if no one was going to be around to test.

I'm not sure what you mean. In the dosage column? Yes, I'd notate the new amount.

Hubby was around to monitor her today, though he isn't up on how to test her glucose. Anyway, I'll be reducing her dosage this evening.
 
From your initial post, I didn't know if you reduced Gypsy's dose this morning.

Did you get any follow up tests shortly after either of the during 40s last night's cycle or this morning's? I'm going to apologize if you did but from the information on your SS, I can't tell. You might want to take a look at the information in the Shooting & Handling Low Numbers sticky, particularly the section on handling low numbers. Numbers in the 40s need your attention. You have no margin for safety when a kitty's numbers drop below 50. What you want to do is give your cat some high carb food, wait 15 - 20 min. and then re-test. If numbers are not in a safer zone, repeat the process. In fact, you want to test for a bit even if the numbers are in the 60s or so in order to make sure that as the effect of the high carb food wears off, numbers don't drop again. If you want an example of how to enter the numbers from multiple tests and include info on what your doing, you can look at Gabby's SS. I stacked multiple test numbers in the cells and there was info on feeding in the Comments section of her SS.

Please reduce Gypsy's dose to 0.75u. The current dose really needs to be reduced.
