Furball was happy & purry this morning. Furball and MC ate all their food last night.

@LizzieInTexas @Beth 73 The DE I have seems to be more like a powder when I spread it around my floors. I thought it was supposed to be more fine and spread like dust. I spread it around with my fingers because it was clumping up like flour. I hope it will work. Maybe I'm just not doing something right when spreading it.

Did it come with the "duster"? It puffs a fine "mist" out. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I am sure it is ok.

I hope the little blood suckers suffer greatly as the die. I hate parasites . Disgusting little buggers :D

Found this.. you don't need nearly the amount he is putting down. Just a very light dusting, but if your DE didn't come with a duster this is a great idea for applying. Walmart has these containers - ~$1

Thanks Lizzie. It didn't come with a duster. I'm not covering the floor as much as he is. Maybe I need to do more, but I'm tracking it around as I walk.

Carla , when I used it I put it along the baseboards and not on the actual floor . I’d even take an old toothbrush and push it under the baseboards. Also I applied it under cushions . As you’ve probably found it is such fine powder that it can get up your and kitties noses. When it was really bad I’d put an Elizabethan collar on the kitties and VERY carefully rub a tiny amount around their necks ...the collar kept it from going up their noses. It will kill a vaccume cleaner because of how fine it is . But it does work . Sending prayers of success over this pestilence !!!!!:)

Mine didn't seem that fine. That's why I was questioning things. I had to sprinkle quite a bit around to get coverage. I just hope it works and I'm doing it right. How long does it take to kill the fleas?

Carla, I would say within a few days the live ones should be gone but then there’s the larva and eggs . Takes a few weeks to dissolve them. It is a process for sure . Just make sure it isn’t bothering anyone’s noses :):bighug: Where did you get yours and is it food grade ? I’d call the consistency somewhat like powdered sugar .

I am sure that someone has said that it needs to be food grade and not the grade for pools. There is a difference and for the safety of the pets, you need to make that distinction.

In the past, I have used DC and spread it all around the foundation of my house as well as inside in the carpets and then vacuuming it up. ( I can't remember how long to leave it in the carpets but sure you can find out on line) Also put in around the baseboards.

Also, you don't want to inhale it as it is an lung irritant. When I was using it around the outside of the house I had to make sure that there was no breeze that day to blow it back into my face.

Furball and MC ate all of the food I left out today and ate pretty good at dinner. MC seems to be feeling more like herself. I can't tell if the DE is working yet. I've still found some fleas. Hopefully over the next couple of days it will make a difference.

@Bobbie And Bubba Yes I did get the food grade. Thanks for pointing that out.
