Bella ate his fuds, good mood, playful
Abby ate hers and puked everywhere!!! I let her calm down a bit gave her some dry food (Orijen) and she puked up some clear liquids, she’s laying in couch seems to be ok, wondering if I should skip thyroid pill this am? Any suggestions would be appreciated, I’m only giving her 1.25mg (half pill) in am and 2.5 pm so I don’t think it was the thyroid pill making her sick, she hasn’t had one since 6pm yesterday, update.....I gave thyroid meds

Are you giving any nausea meds? Ondan and/or Cerenia?
No, vet hasn’t said anything about them and I didn’t know I should ask, I’ve been giving her SEB at am and pm, seems to be working, she’s acting fine her very hyper self, I just hate thst this came back! She did eat a little more and kept it down, I was just reading where a symptoms of hyper t is vomiting, so I guess thst means her meds are working she needs a higher dose, I just don’t know what to do anymore

Put Hyper T ? in your subject line and see if anyone can give you suggestions. I wouldn't skip the meds. I hope Abby stops puking and keeps everything down. I'm glad Bella is doing well. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug:

Well I didn’t skip she gets it at 6a and 6p, just wondering if I should call vet to get Abby something for puking, she’s puked 3x in past cpl weeks, I really don’t think it’s the meds, she puked almost 12 hrs after pill, she did it right after she ate, maybe she ate to fast, maybe it’s the hyper t, I don’t know

Have you tried feeding her in slow increments like I have to do with my civvie? I give his pill in a tsp of food and then about 15-20 mins later I give him 1/2 his breakfast and after about 15 mins I give him the other 1/2. That has really helped big time!

Also, he gets a 1-2am snack along with Bubba. That helps too not let him get to empty.

Ok thanks, I think u have told me that before so much going on in the am, I will do it tonight thanks

@Mandy & Rex quick past
Bella’s sister has hyper t, on June 19th they removed the left thyroid all went well, had it removed cause meds made her so sick, went back 2 weeks later to have stitches removed all well, went back 2 more weeks later for retest of her T4s and now he felt small tumor on right thyroid and her level was at 14, so back on meds we went she’s supposed to have 2.5 mg am and pm, but I e been doing 1.25 am and 2.25 pm with SEB, she puked about 3x since starting meds, before surgery she needed like 10mg to keep it lower, any suggestions on what to do, she’s always hungry

I feed her all the time and leave ff down, she also gets bone broth with every meal instead of me putting water in it

Sorry to hear about Abby, When I gave Ravan & Peggy Sue SEB 2X in one day they both vomited. They NEVER vomit. So I knew it was too much SEB.
I now give it once every other day usually before bed So far no more Vomit! I'd try that before giving her meds. She's not doing it every day?

I also do what Bobby said. Feed small amounts but frequently. (No seb in the food.)

Hope that helps :)

Will try it, will try anything thanks:bighug:

My biggest question is....should I try and have the other one removed or just let her be?
If you do decide to remove the other one, be aware you would need to put her on thyroid supplements, which isn't bad, but the tests are expensive since you need to run a full thyroid panel and there are only 2 labs who do that. I can direct you to a group if you want to get more advice from people with more knowledge than I do.

That answered my question then, expensive, can’t do it, will just have to do the best I can with her, thanks Mandy:bighug:

Oh my and hope Bella feels better soon.

Sootie’s civie sister Guernsey (GA) became hyperthyroid late in life. Eventually opted for full thryoidectomy bc the size of herbthroid glands for larger and the methimazole was no longer helping. It’s been awhile but I remember that the Vet was able to keep parathyroid gland intact, she was on calcium supplement after surgery and once she was home, I had to bring her in twice daily then once daily for blood tests to check particularly for calcium to be sure parathyroid was functioning ok. Then once weekly to check thyroid function... bc as I remember the vet saying...
that in utero, the thyroid develops within the body and then travels up to develop in the neck area. And that during in utero development, little pieces of the forming thyroid remain in the early locations and in adulthood these can become functional in the absence of the actual thyroid glands. Which was the case for Guernsey.

I’m going from memory on this so appreciate other input. and am mentioning bc of the possibility of a second surgery and, based on my experience with Guernsey, important to keep the para thyroid intact.

❤️Vines vines and more vines ❤️

Thank you so much for that info, it’s not Bella though, it’s his sister, I had asked vet to take them both but he said he would see after he got in there, he said the right one was fine and 4 weeks later things changed

BIG bounce:eek::eek:, I think he’s in the pink looking for Luci @Sue and Luci
I saw that! Bellaaaaaaa....get down from there! :arghh::arghh: What are you doing way up there?????

Maybe he's stressed for poor Abby :( Feel so bad for you...that's a handful...two sick babies at the same time...some days I can barely handle just Luci -with all the testing, etc.:(:( She's fortunately not much of a puker...just every now and again leaves me a big ole hairball...ugh...

Sending hugs and healing vines for little Abby:bighug::bighug:...and tell Mr. B...to get his little butt back down from there...you just don't need his drama today!

Well Andy is in his anti lick sweater, bella is at it again, making bald spots on Andy’s back licking him to death!

Slow down a bit, there, Bella! Steady stream of vines always being sent Abby's way.

Pictures from your home always make me feel like I'm looking at Better Homes and Gardens, Cat Edition. Like they're the people in that version of reality.:)
