Yesterday - mostly blues

Laptop is messed up again this morning - looks like it's going to have to go in for service :(
I'll use my old computer to post, but not as convenient as laptop...maybe posting less often...

Luci is well - had a big present for me this morning on the carpet downstairs - a great big ole hairball...here mama...this is for YOU!

Luci is paddling as fast as she can go...this girl is so darn fast!:eek: Do you really think unloading a hairball could put that propeller on her butt today?:confused: She's dropping way too fast for her own good! I've started the HC to slow her down...testing every 30 minutes to try to steer her away from the abyss...why can't she just surf along like a good girl???:arghh::arghh::arghh:

Maybe honey + HC would be a good idea in situations like these.
That's not a bad idea actually. I know you've said Luci doesn't always respond to LC/HC as you'd like. I think it would be worth a try to see how much that brings her up. It would be awesome to be able to help control those dives better. Stay safe out there Luci!

I actually think she responds pretty good to the HC/MC:confused: - I'm watching her closely - she is now swimming with the sharks:arghh: - but just by a few points - she's acting normally:D - playful and wants those treats! She just got 3 pieces of Kitty Krack...she's crazy for those forbidden treats! I keep them on hand just for these occasions...

I want her to get away from the sharks so she can go to the pawtay today @Jill & Jade .... in my sternest voice 'come OVER here Young LADY!!' NOW!!! She's waiting for another treat...

4+ Here we are right on the edge of a dose decrease - 40. :nailbiting: If she goes any lower we'll be changing those calipers again. I think she does hear me calling her! o_O She is slowing down...only dropped 5 pts in the last 30 minutes. Eating that HC food very well...and gobbled up a few more of those kitty krack treats!:woot: She's actually sitting there waiting for another serving! :)

She's at 40?? What's that on the AlphaTrak??
Nope, we're using Relion Confirm...I understand there may be up to a 20% variance with this meter...I have never tried an AlphaTrak due to the expense of the strips...

Luci is in the kitchen begging DH for a treat...she's got to wait a few more minutes before any more treats :D

C'mon Miss Luci!!

Get up Luci! Wowa! Yes unloading a hairball can bring the numbers down significantly and a good poop after constipation will do the same. Could be that is why her number was higher this morning. Right after they vomit also, the numbers can be elevated.

The 20% + or - variance are actually on all meters and I believe the pet meters are subjected to that variance as well.

Thanks for clarifying that!

I had no idea the hairball explusion would affect her numbers either! No idea when she laid that thing out there...no need for gross details - but I don't believe it had been there very long...ugh

I keep a close eye on Luci when she does her famous diving routine:eek:...watching for any signs at all of hypo...she's her usual mean self...I've been testing frequently as well...and now it looks as if she's turned the corner and is heading back for the surfboard...hope she can surf a while before she launches herself on the beach and beyond...I fully expect her to kick her party duds off soon and put on that nasty pink rag she knows I hate! :banghead: Just to spite mama...at least she hasn't gone below 40 - yet...careful saying that...as I know the food is playing a part in her numbers right now...:D

Please clarify. I see only 2 separate cycles below 50 since the last reduction. If you see more than 1 number below 50 in the same cycle, that still counts as one time under 50.
She might want to take it even though it was just 2 drops since the last reduction because of the 40 today and HC food given and that only raised her 8 points. And then MC was given again @+5. JMHO.

@Mandy & Rex, @Bobbie And Bubba - I'm leaning toward taking the reduction tonight because we were struggling to get her to turn around...she was on her way down, down, down:eek:...only HC food and some kitty krack kept her off the 'below 40' criteria...let's see if she can do anything with 1.25 (again)...if not, then I'll take her back up..just my gut feeling here...as mentioned previously, she may bounce her way all the way to remission - I can only hope. :bighug::bighug: Thank you both for being with us during our journey. Greatly appreciate knowing that you're there and watching!:bighug::bighug::bighug::kiss:

Try it and if she continues to go steadily upwards, take her back up again. You don't have to wait 6 cycles to see if a reduction fails. If you aren't sure if she is bouncing or the reduction is failing, ask for help. That was one of the hardest things for me to recognize the difference.

I will keep that in mind...hopefully I'll know soon...by the numbers...if she's responding at all...she's a tricky little devil...
How many cycles would you recommend? I'll make a note on my SS to bring it to my attention :) Thank you!

it's not so much a how many cycle sort of thing. Failed reductions have numbers that just go steadily upwards. A bounce has numbers that go up and they come down, then they go back up. That is how I discern the difference. Where as a failed reduction the numbers just keep steadily rising upwards.

As an example, check out her SS and the PM cycle of 7/13 you gave her a reduction after the 36 in the AM cycle. See how her numbers bobbled around a bit afterwards, up , down a little, back up and then down and back up? Then she finally hit some greens on the 8th cycle. ( she is a tough nut to crack). That looked like a bounce to me, not a failed reduction.

When you wrote on her SS after 7/22 Failed reduction, I did not see it that way. It was just time for an increase. It is not uncommon for kitties to dance back and forth between the same dose several times. What was too much for her at one time might not be enough for her another time. See how fast that 1.75 dose took her into lime greens in 5 cycles? She is such a rule breaker. The protocol is guidelines and then sometimes you gotta fly by the seat of your pants.

Let's see what the 1.5 can do. :)
