Ate well this morning. Seems a bit better (maybe - a little early to tell just yet). The boy needs a good poo. Have been adding the Miralax and hopeful to see results this morning.

I hope everyone has a super Saturday and a catastrophe-free caturday.

Keeping Carla in my heart today :bighug:

Your boy is looking good! Glad you didn't have to go to the vets again. He is grateful for his momma staying home with him yesterday. Hope you enjoyed your day off. :cat::):p

He still isn't doing great. At least he is eating. Still no poo. If it is pancreatitis, it is different than before. Makes me sad to see him so lethargic. No pain meds given since 7:30a this morning.

How long has it been since no poo? That can make them feel crummy. I can always tell by Bubba's numbers if the constipation is an issue.

I think it was overnight Thursday night he had a very small, dry, hard log. Been giving Miralax in his meals/snacks since. His stomach/abdomin has been pretty tight too. Seems better tonight. I hope that means things are moving. These are all symptoms of when he has a panc flare. But the spacy, staring into the distance and lethargy are not.

It is also the first panc flare (if that is what it is) since his anemia is under control as well as good BG numbers so it could just be different overall.

Oh, and the eating good. That's a strange one if it is pancreatitis. CBC at PS and +2.5 tonight with no fighting or major encouragement needed (not complaining on that one at all )

Hopefully, it is just needing a poop. Sending poop vines!

Are his pain meds constipating? I know that bup is.
It's an opiate so I would assume so. It is way less expensive than bupe and doesn't usually space him out as bad as it is this time. It is a new prescription so it may be a bit stronger than the last one. It is compounded and the old one didn't specify the strength per dose so they did their best based on previous dosing and his weight.

ETA
In veterinary anesthesia, butorphanol (trade name: Torbugesic) is widely used as a sedative and analgesic in dogs, cats and horses. For sedation, it may be combined with tranquilizers such as alpha-2 agonists (medetomidine), benzodiazepines, or acepromazine in dogs, cats and exotic animals. It is frequently combined with xylazine or detomidine in horses

Butorphanol is frequently used for post-operative and accident-related pain in small mammals such as dogs, cats, ferrets, coatis, raccoons, mongooses, various marsupials, some rodents and perhaps some larger birds, both in the operating suite and as a regular prescription medication for home use, for management of moderate to severe pain
